Fear and loathing in the “under God” pledge case
22 July 2003 by RonA couple new developments on the pledge “under God” case: Everybody and their uncles are printing an AP piece that tries to make the pledge case into just a family spat. But more interestingly, it says that “The Bush administration has suggested the Supreme Court could erase the ruling by the Ninth US Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco without even scheduling arguments. The administration said Banning, not Newdow, has the sole responsibility to make decisions about the girl’s health, education, and welfare.” So, they want Newdow denied standing rather than the court making a ruling. Running scared, I think.
