Man Bites Dog?

22 January 2005 by Bob

This article has been dealt with through The Raving Atheist, but I just wanted to get it out on our blog, for those who might have missed it.

Our general point of view is that there’s no problem whatsoever when people of any age talk to God. The problems arise when people hear God talking back to them. [...] We believe that adults can kill childhood piety by considering it abnormal or by conveying their skepticism or atheism to their children.

The problems here are numerous, and the fallacies blatant, but that last part really pissed me off. Ummm, the kids of atheists will be more likely to hit, bite, and kill other kids? Please.

When I went to the link to see what you were referring to, the Morning Call came up. I get that paper and the article was from the God Squad. I moved to PA from CT in Nov 04. It was quite a shock going from a pretty liberal state to an area where the local Saturday newpaper has *4* pages of religious articles (mostly x-tians) from a paper (Hartford Courant) that occasionally runs a religious column. It also scared me. In my town, they vote at the local Fundy church. Also scary. I fell very lonely.

Like your blog but I wish you’d update it more often.

Sorry about your situation, Roni. But, if it helps, remind yourself that we’re around. Concerning updating the blog, we try here but sometimes it’s difficult.
