It seems to me any Christian parent seeking to send their kids to college would see UC’s actions as a red flag. Rather than sue to get their kids in (where they’d certainly be taught things the parents don’t approve of) I’d think those parents would breathe a sigh of relief for having dodged a bullet. After all, any college willing to restrict admissions to only those students who share UC’s secular worldview, would almost certainly provide nothing more than a full-blown, one-sided indoctrination, rather than a well-rounded education.

I would think the parents would consider it better to find a more open-minded college than UC.

Frank, please tell me you’re being sarcastic. If you aren’t, I have this to say: science and religion have no place together. It’s not “secular indoctrination”, it’s just how science works, if it’s not science, we don’t teach it in science class, same with other classes. Besides, if you’re going to have christian worldviews taught in school, you would have to have all other belief systems taught as well to be fair and get a “well rounded education”, or let me guess, it’s only one-sided indoctrination when it’s non christian right? “Open minded” heh, yeah, that’s good… go to this site: http://skeptico.blogs.com/skeptico/2005/04/what_the_bleep_.html and read down the page a little ways in the comments section to find out what open minded and close minded means, there are plenty of sites out there that explain the real defintion but this is just one of the millions that popped into my head first. By the way, did you not notice the title and url of this page or is my sarcasm meter just broken?

Biology for Christian Schools is a textbook for Bible-believing high-school students. Those who do not believe that the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God will find many points in this book puzzling. This book was not written for them.

This is problem, morons, and the reason this should be thrown out on these words alone. The UC school system is not a fucking Christian school system. That’s the end of the discussion. If you want your inbred spawn to grow up ignorant of real science and critical thought, feel free to send them to a school that teaches this crap. We don’t care. Just stop trying to impose your ignorance on us.

  4. Frank:

As I understand the original post this is about UC not accepting students who have had a Christian high school education NOT about what UC teaches in it’s classrooms. So your rant, Sean, “Just stop trying to impose your ignorance on us” is really pointless. I see nothing in the original post to indicate any Christians trying to impose anything on UC.

Oh, and the statement about wanting “inbred spawn to grow up ignorant of real science and critical thought” is just funny. Seems to me anyone who rejects, out-of-hand, ideas contrary to their own based on predetermined conclusions is the one not exercising critical thought.

  5. Ron:

This is about UC not counting BS Xian substitutes for real science as satisfying the “science” part of the admission rules, and BS Bible courses for real history or social studies. Nobody is requiring that anyone share any particular world view. Are you confused, Frank, or just telling lies outright?

Once again, God’s posse pretends that they are being oppressed by the Atheist Thought Police.

    Man, that shit is tiresome.

  6. Frank:

Ron — are you merely pretending to be ignorant of the nature of UC or do you really not know that the VAST majority of students and professors share a liberal, secular humanist worldview where contrary ideas are not only discouraged but ridiculed? The “diversity” they tout so loudly only applies to those who share their view of what “diversity” means. Conservatives and Christians need not apply. So, while they may not officially be limiting entrance to those who toe the university’s line, they are effectively doing it when they reject those from Christian high schools based on some concocted notion of “real science.”

You see, Ron, “real science” is testable and falsifiable. I will admit that God is neither testable nor falsifiable and is really not a good topic in a science class but, (and here’s the reall kicker) neither is evolution. It can’t be observed, tested, or falsified and yet it is taught as fact in science classrooms ever day.

Hey, I don’t mind having a standard for what is taught in science class so long as it applies equally to all points of view. If your dogma can be taught there then mine should be too.

  7. Ron:

Wow. Frank, I’m having a hard time thinking you’re not kidding.
