Are you gonna eat that Danish?

31 January 2006 by Sean

Have you been following the growing furor in the Muslim world over a Danish publication’s decision to run a series of political cartoons, some of which depicted Mohammed? According to oh-so-forgiving Islam, even flattering portrayals of “The Prophet” are, of course, blasphemy.

Fuck. When I look at Islam’s stranglehold over the (admittedly) desperate people of the Middle East, I see just how ugly shit could get here if the Xian extremists have their way and keep stoking the fires of religious ignorance and hatred.

Say it now and say it proud, GifSters: “I despise religion — all religions — and what they stand for. You can have your dumbfuck beliefs, but I don’t have to live by them or respect them.”

Some days I really fear a great clash of religious maniacs is upon us, like the Crusades. *Shudder*. Someone say something positive about all this, puhleeze!

Oh, you’re kidding. This business is still going on?

I am so sick of ignorant, superstitious, foot-stamping, childish godidiots–of all varieties. Where’s Jim Jones when you need him?

Fuck allah, yhwh, and the whole lot of them.

You kiddin’ me? Salman Rusdhie, anyone? It’s been steadily getting worse for decades… The radicalization of Egypt, Syria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia…

Many of the leaders of these countries could give a fuck about Islam. But they want to retain their oil and power so they look the other way while their poor and disenfranchised populations slip into fundamentalism. Meanwhile, they need armies to protect them against their own people, who see them (often rightfully) as pandering to Western interests, living in sickening opulence while their countrymen starve, etc.

Damned if they do and damned if they don’t… Which is exactly how we will end up if we keep letting our politicians exploit our own homegrown ignorant fanatics to the detriment of us all.

We’re just about at that worst case scenario. We’ve got a blithering moron with his finger on the button, who believes that Jeebus has regular, ongoing chats with him. This is a guy who subscribes to a “religion” that not only wants the world to end, but actively courts the prospect. Afghanistan wasn’t enough. Iraq isn’t enough. The buildup to attack Iran is already happening.

How else can you explain chimpy’s fiscal policies (other than he’s completely stupid)? He doesn’t — and they don’t — believe they’ll be around when the bill comes due.

And if they have to push the button to guarantee that happy day, they will.

This is the type of headliner that just drives home the point of how ridiculous it is to continue this “toleration” of religious ideals bullshit. Why the hell should anyone show respect to such crazy lunatics in the first place! I’ll buy the cheese, bring it here!

  9. CriticalMe:

That Christian Nation link is the scariest thing I have seen in a damn long time… thanks for souring my lunch :/

To believe people in our government are that flipping stupid makes me sick.

[...] All-fucking-right! I just had to bubble up this follow-up to my previous post about the Muslim world going apeshit over a few goofy cartoons of Mohammed published in a Danish newspaper. [...]

Notice how these islamic bastards march and call for the death of people ? Who cares about their sexist nutjob drug-addicted make-believe prophet. They don’t deserve a damned bit of consideration. What consideration did muslim give the victims of their vile vicious terrorists attacks around the world ? SCREW ISLAM and their insane nutjob beliefs !!!

  12. Ateista:

Expect this isn’t getting a lot of play in the USA, but it’s a VERY big deal over here. C Hitchens had a good piece in Slate yesterday (Sat). Didn’t think I could become more of an atheist that I already was, but this issue is raising the ante. I am a solid antitheist. I find myself drifting to the right when it comes to Muslims in particular. Multiculturalism? California dreamin’! Example: middle-class Dutch citizens are leaving their country in droves because they no longer wish to live in the midst of the alien culture that is slowly engulfing them. Many Muslim immigrants in Holland don’t want to integrate. They want to live in freedom, but not accept the culture that made that very freedom possible. Now they are telling us to limit our free speech because it “offends” them, while their comrades in Damascus gut the embassies of Norway and Denmark. Even here in Poland, the government caved at the first sign of solidarity with the western press, the prime minister and foreign minister tripping over themselves in a pathetic and wretched display of cowardice to apologize for the reprint of two of the “blasphemous” cartoons in the “Rzeczpospolita” newspaper.
Sorry, there is no good news here in Poland.

To close let me quote Matthew Parris writing in today’s Times on what it means to be an atheist. (I recommend the entire article: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,6-2023870,00.html )

“But let us not duck what that “I do not believe” really means. It means I do not believe that there is one God, Allah, or that Muhammad is His Prophet. It means I do not believe that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, or that no man cometh to the Father except by Him. I do not believe that the Jews are God’s Chosen People, or subject to any duties different from the rest of us. It means I do not believe any living creature will be reincarnated in another life.
In my opinion these views are profoundly mistaken, and those who subscribe to them are under a serious misapprehension on a most important matter. Not only are their views not true for me: they are not true for them. They are not true for anyone. They are wrong.”

  14. Sean:

Ateista, thanks for visiting from Poland. Yes, it is sad what is happening in places like Holland. A tolerant country being invaded by the intolerant, all because they are trying to be tolerant! It’s such a Catch-22. I don’t want to be pulled to the right by this or any issue. We need to stand up against extremists and not allow ourselves to become like them, but fundamentalist Islam (and fundie Xianity and Judaism — and even Hinduism, too) need to be fought any way we can. The ideas of free speech and a free press, can not be allowed to die while still in their relative infancies. We will fall back into another Dark Ages if we let these forces of ignorance win. I mean that sincerely.

  15. Ateista:

I agree with you regarding the “forces of ignorance.” However what is most disturbing is how many people/societies support or choose such forces. Here in Poland, in national elections last autumn, we (excluding yours truly) elected a right-wing, essentially theocratic government. They have quickly joined forces with a rabidly conservative radio station (Radio Maria - as in JC’s mama) and are starting to make their Catholic moves on the normal media felt. So for progressives, the election was clearly one step backwards. Yet the problem of public support remains.
What about other countries? I won’t even mention the USA, where the election and REelection of a bible-thumping moron has changed the face of the world. Now there’s Canada. CANADA, for Christ’s (if you’ll pardon the expression) sake! With the exception of their nutty little French-English problemn in the east, Canadians have always seemed like such a sane and rational country. Now they’ve elected a Bush-clone. What’s going on in the world? I’d like to hear from readers in other countries. Which way is the religious weather vane swinging in your land? Are the “forces of ignorance” being elected in your country too? Let’s talk.
