Dr. Dino Dumbass
4 November 2006 by Bob
We’ve been following this story for a little bit, and the verdict finally came down the pipeline: ‘Dr. Dino’ guilty on all counts: Couple could get more than 200 years
Kent Hovind, founder of Creation Science Evangelism and Dinosaur Adventure Land in Pensacola, was found guilty of 58 counts, including failure to pay $845,000 in employee-related taxes. He faces a maximum of 288 years in prison. Jo Hovind was charged and convicted in 44 of the counts involving evading bank-reporting requirements. She faces up to 225 years in prison but was allowed to remain free pending the couple’s sentencing on Jan. 9.
And what’s the reaction from some educated Pensacola readers in the Comments section of this story?
This was Christian religion on trial here folks, I was there I saw, I heard how this case was a joke. This was just one of many more to come of cases against Churches, look out Churches. Shame on anyone that distanted their self from this family before and during this trial instead of supporting them, not agreeing with them but standing beside faithful, faithful servants of the Lord how have stood beside many of us through our trials and struggles. [...] CHRISTIANS open your eyes, our BIBlE says that the Christians will be pursecuted in the end times, well this is what happened today in that court room. [...] Again Christian open your eyes this is just the beginning of times to come. We will see and hear more and more of this happening, and I pray that you will have people around you that is willing to stand up and support you. Am I cruel here? Maybe but more just broken hearted that this was allowed to happen. But for our Father in Heaven this was not a suprise, it is written in our Bible that this would come. Please continue to pray for the Hovinds because you never know it could be you next week!
Well, I guess they’re really on to us now…

This once again goes to show how xians refuse to take responsibility for their own actions and instead they put on their persecution complex, poor-me-let’s-have-a-pity-party-act to avoid admitting their criminal actions or the unlawful and unscrupulous actions of their leaders. They think they are above the law because of a belief they will be forgiven by their imaginary sky daddy for all earthly wrong-doings they have committed in their lives.

I had no idea that white collar crime could net one so many years in prison. Is there something else going on here that hasn’t been publicized. Wow, just wow.

Catherine, it’s the sheer number of counts(58) that add up to that two-hundred odd year sentence but keep in mind, that’s the maximum sentence and not necessarily Hovind’s actual sentence. What with sentences in nonviolent cases tending to run concurrently, most estimates I’ve seen predict 5-10 years for Dr. Dino and maybe a little less for Mrs. Dr. Dino.
What the imbecile who commented in Bob’s post fails to take into consideration is that Pensacola is like an evangelical mecca and that, had Hovind not been so blatant and belligerent about his lawbreaking, the powers that be in the area probably could have covered it up. Not to mention, he was given many opportunities to make good with the IRS and refused out of sheer muleheaded stupidity. I’m assuming that this rocket scientist also believes that someone like the godless ACLU waved a gay muscleman with meth under Haggard’s nose and the poor man couldn’t help but partake.
Now if we could just figure out whether Jim Bob Dobson took his own parenting advice and actually showers naked with boys and if those are prepubescent children hidden away in Jerry Falwell’s fat rolls. Pat Robertson, of course, smokes his crack laced with PCP and we all know about Fred Phelps’ chickenfucking- though most may be unaware that while, for the normally endowed, a chicken is only good for one go, Fred has been going at it hot and heavy with a Buff Orpington named “Clothilde” for the past eighteen months.
“Foh-tunate, I say, foh-tunately, I keep mah feathuhs numbuhed for just such an emergency.”

No, you can’t have a religious persecution complex! Not yours! Where’s that Fark photoshop when I need it?

This is great!!! I love it. Poor little persecuted, untaxed xians. Oh, feel sorry for us. Boo fucking hoo. Enjoy prison, Hovinds!

Sheesh. I totally agree, Stardust - just another example of christians that can’t take responsibility. If Richard Dawkins had done this, for example, Creationists would be the first ones to seize the opportunity.
Instead of pointing out how ATHEISTS are persecuted, they would be pointing to the fact that he broke the law.

Just goes to prove what I’ve always maintained: those who manipulate religion for their own ends (the Hovinds) are amoral sociopaths whilst those that believe the irrational superstitious nonsense these people spout (the Hovind defender’s comment) are delusional psychopaths.
I’d lock-up the former in jail, and the latter in institutions for the mentally deranged.
Got to go now; time to administer George Dubya’s risperidone!

Waah. Waah. Persecution.
Because we all know that rich Christians get a free pass. It’s not like there are objective moral standards out there that apply to everyone.
If God exists, everything is permissible.

Good luck, “Dr.” Dino. Don’t drop the soap! Jackass.
Please continue to pray for the Hovinds because you never know it could be you next week!
Yeah, it could. When you fuckers try to take over and try burning me and mine at the fucking stake. Moron.

Hey where’s the “activist judges” tirade? Come on you fundies! You’re getting lazy with the RNC talking points!
And I agree with RDZ. 5-10 unless the judge gets all pussified about teh baby jesus or something. It’s lazy reporters who just add up the maximum sentence for each count (and it also sounds much worse) instead of pointing out the typical senctence given in these cases.

I hate to gloat …
No. Wait. I don’t hate to gloat.
I’m gloating my ass off.

[...] Funny Stuff By Bob Well, I’m sure most of you heard the dirt about Dr. Dino — i.e., the idiot got ten years — but the real part that cracked me up came from another fabulous site. Some highlights: We conservatives have grown accustomed to liberal activist judges perverting justice for their own evil ends. Last year Judge Jones betrayed us all when he passed his verdict in the Dover school-book case. Shortly afterwards, our dear friend Kent was convicted of tax evasion. U.S. District Judge Casey Rodgers will sentence the Hovinds at 9 a.m for the alleged crime of tax evasion. They claim that he and his lovely wife Jo owe the state almost one million dollars in unpaid taxes. A quick review of the case show that the federal court unfairly denied Hovind’s sensible and truthful defence: Kent owes no tax because everything he “owns” is really property of God. This is a fact that we would all do well to remember! So please dear friends, join me in prayer this morning. Let us pray to Jesus that Kent and Jo will be allowed to continue their important ministry and continue teaching young scientists about the many flaws in Darwin’s theory of evolution. [...]
