This is one of my favorite Simpson’s episodes. My favorite quote from this one: “We had a creation test and every answer was “God did it”

Onions? In the peas?!? WHAT THE HELL!?!?!?
Running away is not going to solve anything. Your typical Christians are going to “tap dance” around the truth.
Youse is a really good Mod, Stardust.
[Oh…OK…so are all the rest of youse GifS mods!…THE Mod Squad?]
I love the Simpsons. It’s, perhaps, something like…umm…
“Comedy is the shortest distance between two conflicting points”?
Something like that.
I’m reminded, also, of how much arrogant bullshit is so skillfully cut through by Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert regarding political news etc. CNN, MSNBC etc. can’t compare; especially regarding the unmasking of hypocrisy.
Of course, let’s not forget those other modern day “Court Jesters”…the Pythons, George Carlin, Lilly Tomlin, Rosanne, Sam Kinison, Bill Hicks, yada, zama.
Anyway…the Simpsons, additionally, because it’s animation; can get away with even more bullseye accurate jabbing at all the insane phoniness. The Simpsons episodes are always a consistently efficient laugh catalyst, in my…erm…
laughable(?) opinion.
Hey, at least by giving a test that has every answer be god did it, all the test scores will sky rocket and suddenly all Americans will look smarter while actually being dumber!
It’s foolproof I tells ya!
Hmmm, this video (Darwin with Satan) would probably get the kids around here to actually read OOS and learn evolution!
That’s funny because that’s what the local population uses as their answer for everything too.
Someone died? gord did it.
Sun came out? gord did it.
You farted? Yeah gord did that too the sneaky bastard. His gas moves in mysterious ways.
This is an awesome episode. I love the Simpsons.
There’s also another good one regarding religion in Season 4 where Homer begins to have fun skipping church. It contains what I believe to be one of Homer’s greatest quotes of all time, “Hey, what’s the big deal about going to some building every Sunday? I mean isn’t god everywhere? And don’t you think that the Almighty has better things to worry about than where one little guy spends one measly hour of his week? And what if we picked the wrong religion? Each week we’re making god madder and madder!”
Genius!
[…] Here is a link to one of the blogs that I enjoy reading. Yes, the name of the blog is provocative, and I’ll just say that I have theist friends whose company I enjoy. I believe the way that I do becasue that is where my search for the truth lead me; that is what the facts tell me. But I am not going to lampoon others who have taken another path….unless they start trying to ram their ideas down the throats of others, or to use their beliefs to ruin things like science education. Another great Simpsons religion quote:
Bart asks what religion the family is,
Homer: “You know, the one with all the well meaning rules that don’t work out in real life, uh, Christianity”
There is another great Homer quote where he describes god as “omnivorous”.
Here is a little video for the muslims.
