Here goes the Poop again . . .

. . .all the evil in the world is the atheists’ fault.
This was in today’s Religion news:
Pope criticizes atheism in encyclical
VATICAN CITY - Pope Benedict XVI strongly criticized atheism in a major document released Friday, saying it had led to some of the “greatest forms of cruelty and violations of justice” ever known.
This argument is getting to be so redundant.
Benedict sharply criticizes Marx and the 19th and 20th century atheism spawned by his revolution, although he acknowledges that both were responding to the deep injustices of the time.
Then there is this gem:
Rev. Robert Gahl, professor of ethics at Rome’s Santa Croce University, said the pope’s message was “tremendously relevant” for today’s materialistic societies “where people put hope in science and medical cures.”
All I can do is

Hey, if the poop is after us we must be doing something right.
30 November 2007, on 6:47 pm
Weren’t Marx’s writings essentially seen as gospel? Technically then it wouldn’t be atheism so much as yet another religion.

Magical Thinking:
Trust:
1. Our Lady of Guadalupe
2. Our Lady of Fatima
3. Our Lady of Lourdes
4. Holy Water
5. Communion wafers consecrated by a priest=the REAL body and blood of Jeebus
6. Holy Oil
7. Saint John’s Holy Jaw (Catholic are notorious for dismembering corpses and worshipping body parts. In Italy alone there are 5,000+ jaws of the aforementioned Saint…
8. The Shroud of Turin
9. Padre Pio’s stigmata
And science is NOT to be trusted??? HUH???

Hey, what did Palpatine do to you that you need to disrespect him so.

Yet another example of religion attempting to rationalize their dogma by calling their “enemy” evil and demented.
30 November 2007, on 7:36 pm
“We must do all we can to overcome suffering, but to banish it from the world is not in our power,” Benedict wrote. “Only God is able to do this.”
So he admits that God won’t banish suffering from this world yet he supposedly has the power too.
What an asshole.
30 November 2007, on 7:44 pm
Yeah, like the Crusades or the Inquisition — atheists were total assholes about that stuff…
And even the Holocaust — man, those atheists were really scumbags there. It’s so easy to see how the atheist nazis clashed violently with the pious church…

Joe Ratz is obviously delusional…
Joe believes in…
1. Apparitions of a Virgin (???…alleged virgin, but what do I know?)
2. Bread and Wine become the body and blood of Jeebus…for real…Transubstantiation.
3. Our Lady of Guadalupe
4. Our Lady of Fatima
5. Our Lady of Lourdes; Our Lady of Medugorje
6. The Holy Jawbone of Saint John (there are 5,000+ jawbones of the aforementioned saint in Italy alone…)
7. Bodies of saints: Catholics are notorious for digging up corpses and putting them on display for veneration. In NYC…go see Saint Frances Cabrini. When I was 10 years old on a trip to Italy with my Catholic parents, I was freaked out by Santa Zita. The corpse is in a church in Lucca, Italy.
8.Holy Water
9. Holy Oil
10. Rosary Beads
11. Magical incantations also known as prayers
Has the boy been psychologically evaluated?

I hate having to make this point once again but, extending AUM, what was the Soviet Empire- or the Chinese up till recently- but a theocracy with the State as Gob, the Party as the Church, and the masses as the congregation? Technically, sure, communism isn’t a religion but working blindly, slavishly towards the supposed betterment of an imprecisely defined nonentity displays the same deluded thought patterns inherent in the religious.
Every time the godbotherers bring up Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, or Kim Jong-il, in an attempt to counter religious-inspired atrocities through the ages, a cute, cuddly, but ultimately disposable, kitten dies in their hearts. Every time they counter with “The Nazis! The Nazis!”, Pius XII’s rotisserie spit has it’s diameter doubled.
The kitten would have died anyway the next time they knelt in prayer but willful stupidity goes to intent.
30 November 2007, on 9:09 pm
Um, you know they never got rid of the office of the Inquisition.
“In 1981, Ratzinger was named Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, the organization which until 1965 had been called the Holy Office of the Inquisition, making him Grand Inquisitor” -NNDB.com
Plus, wasn’t Ratzi a Nazi?
Didn’t Jesus spend a lot of time talking about hypocrites?

A little off-topic, but related…
This one gets on my nerves worse than the usual tripe from Rome because it is not only socially conservative, but beats the communism horse, too. It always pisses me off when affluent people speak of communism like a disease of thought. We have cheap plastic crap, crystal meth, double cheeseburgers, color TV’s and minimun wage jobs with which to fill our ghettoes, so our poor hardly have the opportunity (or the brains) to realize that they ARE the poor. If any of our dickless repub’s had actually grown up as a true peasant in say, czarist russia or rural vietnam, they might just feel differently about their ridiculous trickle-down theories and their Horatio Alger fantasies. Even with our present economic inequality, we are not owned by kings. We are not truly and fully held down by law as peasants in our dealings. Of course communism doesn’t make sense to people who already are the HAVES. But to a person who has been truly without means their whole life, yet has to live under the rule of the incredibly wealthy, I bet communism makes a whole lot of sense-better to trust a bureaucracy and wait in a bread line than just wait for the chance to watch your children starve for the benefit of your noble leaders!
Hmmm..A few weeks ago I (for some deeply masochistic reason) read a Cal Thomas editorial…If I recall correctly, he spent one paragraph praising Reagan as some sort of godlike superhero for confronting and destroying communism(riiiiight…..Tear down that wall, Mister G!) He then launched into the meat of his vile fantasy, which pretty much called any collectivist thought a form of disease that must be eradicated(I suppose that goes for the human beings who hold those ideas as well) and made the declaration that communism would soon be all but forgotten, and that anyone who had given any legitimacy to communism, no matter how well meaning, deserved to be forgotten as well. The real injustice here is that Cal Thomas’ opinions are just so self-absorbed, so petty, and so ugly, that I will have a hard time forgetting him…but like a proper comrade, I’ll do it for the good of all.

Back on topic…
The Pope….what can you say about a semi-senile, over-priveleged lunatic who believes(or at least expects others to believe) that his words alone can change everything from the weather, to human sexuality, to the life cycle of viruses? A man who through incredible callousness, arrogance and superstition helps contribute to the raping of thousands of children as well as the continued suffering and deaths of millions?
And what is up with that fucking hat? He could wear a varnished dog turd on his head and I wouldn’t take him any less seriously.
1 December 2007, on 12:22 am
Though not totally on topic…this is a little blab, which wouldn’t go at Austin Cline’s comment queue; but considering the subject here…Yeah the Church’s total delusional…supremely LITERALIST, ex-Nazi top-dog…
this is still apropos to the what longtime literalist boneheads do to deceive and control the masses.
[The Ag/Ath topic, incidently, was about the Resurrection BS doctrine, and the numerous, obvious contradictions contained in the Gospels etc…the lack of historical evidence (D’uh!)…yada, yada. I’d really love to confront the Poop on this tangential topic. I’ve touched on it here at GifS from time to time. Anyway, here goes (nothing?)

For all you Joseph Campbell-ite mythologists(?)
Ummm…Eve?
———–>>
As a one-time brainwashed from childhood (Catholic) Xtian…May I say?…
Of COURSE the resurrection of Jesus is a myth! The Jesus OF THE GOSPELS never existed. Aside from the fact that there are no independent CONTEMPORANEOUS historical records to back up the literal New Testicle’s Gospel claims; if anyone, ‘out of the blue’, told you a story like that, with so many outrageous claims, like walking on water, rising from the dead, etc. you’d think they were just plain nuts. But when one is raised from childhood with blind belief being foremost in importance, thinking critically, (if, indeed, ever)…secondary; the “Power of Myth” (ala Joseph Campbell?) based religion can grab a hold of one’s consciousness; lasting often for a whole lifetime. I’m one, sure, soon to be 68 year old witness for that! We all know people whom, in every other department of their lives, are perfectly rational…except…for that tenacious “Myth controlled” subject…yeah…Religion!
In today’s terms, the Bible is pretty much, scientifically speaking…total, absurd, baloney (here at GifS; we call it…Bullshit)!
It’s becoming more and more evident that the, originally, “ancient occult” based MYTHOLOGICAL stories were never meant as literal descriptions of ANY actual human. When one puts the whole of the NT stories into the context of “Sun Mythology”…an ancient occult language related to our ACTUAL blazing, oh-so-benevolent, sun’s transit through the sky-based “Zodiac”…12 Apostles equaling the 12 signs of the Zodiac etcetera., etcetera…the, Gospel’s, albeit primitive, mythological stories, take on a whole different meaning!
Certainly NOT, in any way, a literal one!
The history of the “Church”, with its crafty, power yielding disdain for the whole subject of pagan ‘occult’ mythology…Astrology etc., turned everything into simplistic, blatant, mind controlling, literalism…totally missing the original meanings. This “Mythological stuff’” goes way back…beyond the Jews and Christians. Try Ancient Egypt and other ancient cultures?
AND…the subject fits very nicely, by the way, into the upcoming, perennial, bonehead religious (BS warring) season. “ARRGH”?
Anyway…
I highly suggest these two YouTube Videos on that whole subject. There are others; but these pretty well highlight the…”TOTAL missing the point”…of origins that the so-called Abrahamic religious bonehead priests etc. have been propagandizing for 2000+ years. It’s no mystery why most people don’t get it. The whole subject has been disregarded and demonized in the process of all the childhood brainwashing that’s gone on for centuries!
If it weren’t for our modern science and the Hubble telescope, even we atheists (freethinkers?) might not be nearly as knowledgeable about the Cosmos as all those poor scrounging ancients were.
Here are the 2 links…Yeah…see what YOUSE guys think?

Pope Benedickhead(look at the tip of the penis he often wears on his head)said one thing right, as PZ Myers has pointed out.
Reciting arguments made by atheists, he said: “A world marked by so much injustice, innocent suffering and cynicism of power cannot be the work of a good God. A God with responsibility for such a world would not be a just God, much less a good God.”

Clearly atheists are ruffling feathers these days. Good work everyone!
As has been pointed out, with the Churches’ history, (away from which it is getting more and more difficult for the Catholic heirarchy to distract it’s parishioners) it is amazing that Poop Nazinger can make such comments with a straight face. Does anyone in his postition of power, who continues to parrot the tired, Stalin and Mao stock arguements against “atheism” really believe that non-sense?
“Robert Gahl, professor of ethics at Rome’s Santa Croce University, said the pope’s message was ‘tremendously relevant’ for today’s materialistic societies ‘where people put hope in science and medical cures.’”
As opposed to what? Such reliabe and time tested panaceas as holy water, incantations and rosary beads? I’m sure Dr. Gahl has never had innoculations or medical examinations, right? Mouth-breathing nuckle-dragger.

The Pope knows at first hand the dangers of communism.
After all, he did serve for a short while in Hitler’s army, battling communism.

Say what you will about the pope, the man has impeccable style sense. He’s a regular Beau Brummel among church leaders.
2 December 2007, on 6:40 am
Riiiiiiiiiight… we have caused some of the most cruel and despicable violations in the world… let’s just see that, shall we?
*holds irony meter up to quotes*
*BEEP BEEP BEEPBEEPBEEP BOOM!*
oh! oh sweet irony, how I love thee!
still, It’s nice to see we got attention from Gawd’s whipping boy.

Raindogzilla:
If praying kills kittens (and I know, per Ms. Poppy Dixon that masturbation does)–who’s keeping the supply not only steady, but increasing? Guess, c’mon guess–that’s right, it’s us, the unbelievers. Now, technically, I’m not really, really an atheist. But, I’m really, really not any kind of believer per any other believers I talk to. Fuck it, I’m happy in my own skin–well, at least when I’m not dealing with fucking GODTARDS and other republishits.

ChuckA,
I watched the first video this morning before leaving for work and found it very interesting. Especially the part about the “three kings” following the east star. The fact that so many religions all have similar characteristics for their gobs has to say something. And the fact xstians worship on SUNday is odd too. Can’t wait to watch the second video when I get home tonight.

greatest forms of cruelty and violations of justice
Well, he’s got to be talking about about the inventors of “the Rack”, “the Pear”, “the Iron Maiden”, “the Breast Ripper” and “the Judas Chair”, “the (Catherine) Wheel”, right? You know, the Holy Catholic Church and it’s sanctioned kings et. al. during the middle ages?

That has to be the funniest most ironic statement I have heard in sometime.
Yes, how dare we put hope in reason, evidence and common sense.

“where people put hope in science and medical cures.”
That has to be the funniest most ironic statement I have heard in sometime.
JP Manzi, and this is especially funny when gob bleevers say this when they run fast to the doctor when sick or injured, just like the atheist. Few rely on prayer or faith in their god to heal them. Even the Poop. (And the seriously injured or ill who rely on prayer usually die.)
3 December 2007, on 9:59 pm
A&E showed a documentary yesterday called “Mind Control” about the
“holy-jeebus-its-the-end-of-the-world-so-lets-
give-all-of-our-money-and-marry-our-twelve-
year-old-daughters-to-our-jeebus-loving-
brainwasher-in-chief-because-he-will-protect-
us-from-the-nuclear-holocaust-which-he-ever-
so-conveniently-predicted” kinds of cults otherwise known as Meade Ministries and House of Yahweh nutjob factories. The producers sent a disguised reporter to infiltrate one of their brainwashing camps with a hidden camera, holy fucking shit that was some scary video!
On the subject of disease, one brainwasher-general was spewing some bullshit about 50-60 million Americans being infected with a virus to which cult members are immune. What a fucking irony, when THEY are the ones who are sick in the head, THEY are the 50-60 million Americans who are infected with religion DISEASE, THEY are the ones who have a bad case of the faith.
One former cult member talked about his return to sanity and civilization: he finally gave up believing in the nonsense when his four year old daughter was near death from pneumonia and the cult leader wouldn’t come to pray over her because he was too busy spreading THE DISEASE during a lecture to other cult members, so the father only then said “fuck your jeebus shit” and drove his daughter to the hospital by which time she was so far gone they had to revive her and bring her back to life. Fucking shit that is fucked up.
4 December 2007, on 6:18 pm
^ That is fucked up, untempro; I’ll have to look it up to find out more about those cults. How anyone can allow themselves to be brainwashed to the point of endangering their own family members is beyond me - but then I guess I’m not in that frame of mind.
5 December 2007, on 8:22 pm
Sheesh!
How dare we have Hope in Science and Medical cures. We should be groveling on our knees chanting, muttering some inanities about “Help us Lord”?
See it makes no sense to have hope in the only thing that has proven time after time to be of truly superior help in Billions of peoples lives.
No wonder this fuck-ass is so irrelevant. I wonder if he sees the doctor first or prays first? And that Mofo is looking more and more like Darth Vader. Good one
