A Dangerous Cult

I recently found out that a certain Dangerous Cult has been Google bombed:
…Yet the church has appeared powerless to stop the online sabotage. Guerrilla action has so far included the temporary disabling of its international website and “Google bombing”, a manipulation of the search engine which has resulted in the website being the first result returned by Google when users type “dangerous cult”. [The dangerous cult]’s UK website has been unavailable and in the US the FBI were investigating what they said was the hoax dispatch of white powder in envelopes to 19 churches in the Los Angeles area….
The linked article also mentions that Facebook groups have been set up to mock the dangerous cult, and protests are being planned to fight the dangerous cult.
All of this, of course, comes on the heels of a video featuring a prominent member of the dangerous cult, a video which the dangerous cult tried to supress.
So if you’re in college, join the Facebook group. If you have a blog, keep the Google bomb going. Oh, and one little thing: I notice the Facebook group is loath to link to material the dangerous cult is trying to keep secret with copyright laws. That is not a winning policy. To start a trend against it, I will start off by dropping a link to Xenu.net, the leading clearing house for information on the dangerous cult that is Scientology. Contribute what you will in the comments.

Yet when I suggested that christianity and islam were more dangerous cults than scientology, people were up in arms…
Troublemaker? Me?

Thanks!

Well, on an individual basis, I’m inclined to believe that scientology is more damaging. For that matter, if it was ever able to amass the numbers that christianity and islam have, I think it might be more dangerous.
Eh, whatever. How about we just call all of them crazy?

I would not say that Scientology is a religion or a cult. It is a Mafia. It only exists to extort money or defraud people. Sure, you can say that is what religions do too, and it is true.
But Scientology is a purely criminal association. There are historical and cultural reasons for the existence of religions. At their origins, maybe they were the scientologists of their time. Still, that is no reason to tolerate Scientology today.

I saw this Tom Cruise video on Youtube, man he is one screwed up individual. The video is like 9 minutes of utter insanity and confusion. Wow!

I agree with that! It’s an organization created to extort money from stupid rich people. They can make it appear “legal” by calling it a religion.

Mafia or cult, I still like Google-bombing.

Yeah Travdawg (and fellow GifSters)…
Watching that video, caused me to imagine being the ‘interviewer’…sitting across from him… interspersing things like:
“Ummm…Tom!…Tom!…TOM!…Earth to Tom!…Ummm…WHAT?…HUH?…like…Excuse me; but could you say SOMETHING, perhaps, with some real CONTENT?
“Like…Run that by me again?”
“Say WHAT?”
“Tom!…WTF?”
“Do you have any substantial EVIDENCE for anything your (not really) saying?”
“Are you fucking stoned or something?”
“When, EXACTLY, did your brain fall out of your skull?…Ummm…Have you been hearing the faint sound of wind whistling through the opening left by it’s departure?”
“Yeah, yeah!…Zama, zama…Yada, yada!”
“SHEESH!…GIVE ME A FUCKING BREAK!”
OK…I realize how ridiculous the whole Scientology shtick is; but then again…
Aren’t ALL religious stories extremely insane sounding…objectively(?), Scientifically, and rationally speaking?
In some strange way, the “Far Out”, Sci-Fi-like story (Myth) of Xenu makes as much, if not more sense than the idiotic Judeo-Xtian-Muslim mythologies. At least it relates to a much larger Universe concept…?
In my opinion, the more we find out, through Science, about the Universe; the more bizarre and baffling…albeit awe-inspiring…it appears.
Perhaps…it all gets back to that old Nietzsche-like shtick, again…ala…
“Existence is absurd”?
And…of course…the beat goes on…
and on…and on…ad infinitum.(?)

Heh- that video is a whole bushel o’ crazy!
The google-bomb page is funny. A few links down from scientology on the search results for ‘dangerous cult’ also found THIS howler:
http://www.ericbarger.com/mdcult.htm
I won’t spoil it by telling you who he says the most dangerous cult is…

Before the “dangerous cult” pulls it off YouTube, check out this of Cruise’s whackadoo vid!

And this one (skip ahead to 1:39):
Also, don’t forget to spread the love and disseminate!

I don’t know about that. Neither Christianity or Islam has gone after the IRS. It’s pretty scary when you have a religious cult that goes after the IRS and wins.

Arguing that one religion is more dangerous or ridiculous than any others is kinda like arguing which body parts hurt more when severed. Let’s face it folks–they are all worthy of our snarky and relentless criticism (now with extra snark!).

funny but they should have bombed xianity instead. much more dangerous

I don’t like the fact that Scientology has gone after thier detractors using legal means. That’s pretty chickenshit. But I also don’t understand why people get upset over morons giving their money to an obvious pyramid scam of a “religion”. Google Bomb Fred Phelps and the nutty christians. Why in the hell do so many people give a shit about what Scientology or Tom Cruise does? Christianity killed a million Iraqis in the past five years. I dont see how Scientology is “dangerous” compared to that.

Fade, Scientology is dangerous in the way it uses threats, extortion and all sorts of illegal tactics to promote itself. They are breaking the law. Period. We cannot shrug off these people. If you don’t pay attention and keep a watch, they will continue to grow.
Yes, Bush used “god told me to” when he invaded Iraq. But the reasons we are there have mostly to do with politics and our addiction to oil than Christian Crusades. And even if we were in Iraq for religious reasons (which we are not), I don’t see how that makes Scientology a religion to be dismissed.

A quick primer, for those of you who don’t know anything about Scientology.
7 February 2008, on 4:00 pm
Can you say “Snake-in-the-box”; yup, that’s good ol’ harmless scientology.
7 February 2008, on 4:38 pm
There are only two types of scientologists: the con men and the suckers.
If you are getting money from scientology, you are a crook. If you are losing money to scientology you are a sucker.

Brahma kumaris is the same thing.
Under the say of love and world-peace they wreck marriages, ignore child-abuse and are after your money.
But how can they ever be stoped, people still fall for it.
