Commentary, news, and rants on the evils and stupidity of belief in the big invisible daddy in the sky. Illuminating and watchdogging the widespread attempts to institutionalize the theocratic rule of the US. Making fun of believers everywhere.
The part about having a tape recorder when he’s dying so there will be no lies about a “deathbed conversion”… great stuff!
I was one of those people who, as Dawkins says here, was an atheist for years and didn’t know it. I think I was solidly an atheist at age 12, but didn’t finally wake up to that truth until I was in my twenties.

That was great, wasn’t it? I think many scientists might just follow in that idea.

Same here. I would be so incredibly bored in church services. I would find my mind wandering. I would find much of what the pastor said, and scripture reading to be bizarre. Then finally I had the courage to admit it…I don’t believe in this god crap.
It’s just too bad that Dawkins is not featured on other venues during this rather ‘asshat’ political season.
It’s rather obvious, of course, why that’s the case. The godbotherers are in total control of the media, and don’t want anyone questioning just WHY we should be so caught up in kissing (and smelling?) ass with the religions.
Hitchens appeared about a week or two ago on Tim Russert’s show with the definitely religiously delusional Andrew Sullivan; and Russert overtly steered Hitchens completely away from getting into any criticism of religion. I was noticing a definite, somewhat frustrated, “chomping at the bit” by Hitch.
Now that Maher is off the air until the Fall; it’s totally unlikely that we’ll see any atheists appearing on the usual asshat leaning shows.
We definitely could use a Freethinker’s channel SOMEWHERE on the Cable networks!
I think there’s been some vague “rumblings” to that effect; but, I suspect, it’ll take a special ‘grass root movement’ with, of course, MUCHO doleros from various people like Bill Gates et. al. to ever get that idea off the ground.
We can all “Hope”, of course! But…indeed…
No holding of anyone’s breath will ever be suggested.
We do! We have the History Channel and the Discovery Channel! Granted they sometimes get into story telling time looking for crap like Noah’s boat, but they definitely do not subscribe to a six day creation or any of the other “Xians are better than everyone else” crap.
(forgive the two posts, it seems it cut off my second para)
I think I may have to start asking KKKristians to demonstrate their faith in the Skyboss by “casting their bread upon the waters” (I will be the “water”) to see if it’s returned to them tenfold. I see it as a win-win.
Dawkins is quite funny which, btw, is another feature entirely absent in most Gobdotherers.
I dont know what happened to the video of that hindu-tunred-xian nutjob went, but I’m sure Dawkins and the rest of the “Four Horsemen” woudl have a field day with him
^You mean the guy that did the “Atheists Nightmare” series. That guy was a tool. If his reasoning and arguments are my nightmare, I’ll sleep damned good tonight, thank you very much.
Fritzy, thanks for pointing that out about the Zacharias video disappearing! Somehow it got clicked to hide. It is now in view. I was wondering why it wasn’t getting any comments! D’oh! Damn WordPress gremlins!
It still cracks me up that Mark Mathis, the producer of the cdesign proponentist pic Expelled!, turned Pharyngula’s PZ Myers away from a showing - only to let Dawkins walk right in! People who were there for the Q&A after the flick say that Mathis looked like he’d pooped his pants when he called for questions - and Richard Dawkins stood up…

“He does?!? In that case he goes right down in my estimation. He’s not a bright guy”

Richard Dawkins is my dad!

I was one of those ‘not sure what I think’ atheists. More agnostic for the sake of maintaining peace with my god-botherer family.
Since I discovered “The Blind Watchmaker” I’ve been a Dawkins fan and an absolute Atheist. [that's one who drinks a lot of vodka] LOL!
Thank you Dr. Dawkins.
