Vatican: Excommunication for Female Priests
Vatican City - The Vatican insisted Friday that it is properly following Christian tradition by excluding females from the priesthood as it issued a new warning that women taking part in ordinations will be excommunicated. [...] The church has always banned the ordination of women by stating that the priesthood is reserved for males. The new decree is explicit in its reference to women. “The church does not feel authorized to change the will of its founder Jesus Christ,” Amato said in an interview prepared for Vatican Radio that was released to reporters. The reference is to Christ’s having chosen only men as his Apostles. [...] In March, the archbishop of St. Louis excommunicated three women - two Americans and a South African - for participating in a woman’s ordination. They were part of the Roman Catholic Womenpriests movement, which began in 2002. The decree was published Thursday by Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano, which in a headline called the ordination of women a “crime.” The congregation said it acted to “preserve the nature and validity of the sacrament” of ordination. The decree - signed by the congregation’s head, American Cardinal William Levada - said anyone trying to ordain a woman and any woman who attempts to receive the ordination would incur automatic excommunication. [...] Catholics who are excommunicated cannot receive the sacraments. Amato said the penalty can be lifted if those so punished are sincerely repentant.
You know, like Galileo…

When the priest shortage gets really severe down the road, you know they are going to find some loophole to permit women and married men to become priests. In fact, I expect it to happen in my lifetime.

The Vatican has once again pitched the Bitch Tent. Wah Wah Wah.
So do you think they would use a strap-on to molest the altar boys? That is just plain mean.
And not to be outdone. A priest has refused to give holy communion to a supporter of Obama because Obama is not pro-life. Or was it because he is pro-choice? Anyhow theres more here.

What I want to know is does it mean that Catholics will be denied the communion wafer and participation in communion if they vote Democratic? If so, is that undue influence in politics legal? The Catholic church proves regularly why it has become irrelevant.

One of the priests in the catholic church I grew up at tried to explain the whole “no girls allowed” thing as this. Females get to experience the miracle of carrying a child to term. Mary got to give birth to god-incarnate, and that’s something no man will ever be able to experience. So, women get childbirth and men get the priesthood.
It seemed like an something only a man who didn’t have much experience interacting with women or modern day science courses would say.

There is an old Louisiana expression that applies here. What can you expect from a pig but a grunt.

I like that expression…nice…of course it never ceases to amaze me that the Catholics still manage to shoot themselves in the foot every so often, and remind us that no matter how much charity work or how many belated apologies they offer, they’re still a bunch of pig-headed chauvanistic fucktards. Really, wouldn’t give him the sacrament because he was voting for Obama?!? I wouldn’t vote for him either, but goddamnit how did that come up IN LINE FOR COMMUNION?!?

I can’t quit buying shit made in China, I can’t quit driving my truck, I can’t quit paying taxes, but I can sure as fuck not give money to the RCC or any other organization that espouses such nonsensically bone-headed views. Fuck ‘em.

Yeah, dumb-ass “explanations” like this just crack me up. They were stupid when it came to my CCD classes (way back in the day), and they haven’t really changed all that much in terms of their stupidity.
Good thing I wasn’t in the room when the idiot told you that. I would’ve ripped into him — or maybe just laughed and said, “You actually believe that crap? How the hell did you graduate from high school?”

I agree, they change the rules to whatever they want “god’s rules” to be. Proving once again that men make the rules in most religions.

Yep, and the more dumb-ass explanations they make up to justify the previous dumbass explanation just gives us a whole comedy routine.

RAmen, Star! Hopefully these slapped women will now bleed out from the Rotting Catlick Corpse and feed into the more liberal Episcopal / Anglican church (’coz we all know it’s not like this setback is gonna turn them atheist or anything truly evil like that /snark).

This is another clue in the hopeless clinging to power of the church over the last centuries. They have banned this and that and toild us we were going to burn in hell for all sorts of things, and when there popularity decreases they change the rules, ease up a bit to conform to modern society a little better. were they wrong before? or are they wrong now? Either way, they can’t pretend to be right both times. I believe in them a little less each time they issue a statement like this one… and then change to suit themselves later….
