Message from lunatic fundies in WV, “We atheists should be thankful we aren’t killed”

7 August 2008 by Stardust

IntheImageofDNA posted this in the comment section of the last post, but I thought it was worthy of bringing up front for discussion and to point out as DNA says “the latest ignorant, hateful, fatuous fucktardery displayed” in the Beckley, West Virginia Register Herald.

A message for those who don’t believe

This is to all the atheists out there, you know who you are and so does God. First of all, be thankful you live in the U.S.A. or you could be killed for your beliefs.

It says in the Bible that the Jews are God’s chosen people and He will bless those who bless them. Do you think America is a “super power country” because we are all so moral and good to each other? No. It is because we have been Israel’s allies since Day One. God has blessed this country because of this.

If you think we have problems now, i.e. high gas prices, the economy, the housing crisis, think what may happen if we turn our back on Israel and God.

The presidential candidates need to keep this in mind when they campaign and ultimately become president. Barack Obama is on record saying he would welcome peace talks with the Mid-East. Who can reason with Hamas or Hezbollah when they kill innocent people in the name of “Allah”?

May God continue to bless this country and to those who don’t believe in God — may God help you.

  1. Zosimus the Heathen:

Jesus fucking Christ! (What else can you really say?)

  2. Stardust:

This bitch should be glad she lives in the U.S.A. where she isn’t killed for HER beliefs, and where her stupidity is allowed to be published.

  3. AtheistUnderMask:

We live in a country where we won’t be killed for being atheists, and then she pulls out the gawd as mafia boss card.

That last thing about Israel and gawd sure sounds like a death threat to me.

  4. Asylum Seeker:

First of all, be thankful you live in the U.S.A. or you could be killed for your beliefs.

Yes, thank God we aren’t killed for our non-belief. Only in America. And England. Canada. France. Pretty much all of Western Europe. Probably most of South America. Many Buddhist countries.

So yeah…we don’t live in the Middle East. We should be thankful for that. (Getting sick of people insinuating that America is the only country in the world that isn’t frickin’ Saudi Arabia).

And have no idea what she is going on about: the candidates are sucking up to Israel just fine.

  5. Stardust:

the candidates are sucking up to Israel just fine.

    Yep, both candidates.

Well, she is only showing us how seriously uninformed she actually is and how she is most likely getting all of her information from her stupidass church pastor.

  6. Sarah:

That is sick. How the hell could any newspaper even publish such a hate-filled rant?

  7. Stardust:

How the hell could any newspaper even publish such a hate-filled rant?

You should see what is published in the Joliet Herald News that is not that far outside of Chicago. Could be because of a lack better opinion letters sent in for publishing. We don’t see much of this in the Chicago Tribune or the Sun-Times, and when we do it’s usually saying the same thing but more intelligently written even if the content is ludicrous.

  8. Stardust:

Most of you probably have seen this before…a letter from a Christofasctist who says we must believe in some version of sky daddy beliefs. The last sentence saying that atheists are the reason for crime even if they never commit a crime is a real gem, isn’t it?

And these dimwits never stop to consider that you cannot force someone to believe something that they cannot.

  9. Ourlady of Perpetual Motion:

I’m having a real “Take your fucking idiot religion and jam it up your ass” kind of day.

The kind of brain dead deliberate ignorance displayed by the author of the letter should cause third degree burns. Then maybe these half-wit fucktards would spend a little time minding their own fucking business and trying to learn a thing or two rather than wasting everyone’s time trying to spread their disgusting assbackward tard-think around like so much over flowing sewage.

You gotta love a bunch of fools who want to base modern diplomacy and foreign policy on !$^@*&^#! bibull prophecy. Holy sweet merciful FUCK.

How can anyone be THAT proud of their own stupidity?

  10. Chaoswes:

I see stupidity like this in both Denver newspapers. Hell, one paper has a reporter that does nothing but talk about religious fucktards and their “good” deeds.

Asylum Seeker - Add to the list China, Russia, Eastern Europe, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, Australia, New Zealand and I’m sure a great many more. In fact, as far as my research indicated, only countries that are majority Hindu and Muslim are not religiously free. This is a nominal percentage of the worlds countries and in most of these countries Christianity will get you killed faster than atheism.

  11. Stardust:

In our community newspaper there is a regular feature written by a pastor from one of the community’s many churches and while I stopped reading it a long time ago, my husband continues to read it for amusement, but it usually gets his blood pressure up. Like this past week’s article about archaeological evidence for the bible baloney and this is another example of how we are proseltyzed to via the local paper each week.

  12. Orzo:

Just think about all the good atheists have done in the world: bringing together people of all religions!
These same people hated jews a few short years ago.

  13. InTheImageOfDNA:

I encourage you guys to write to The Register-Herald and lambaste this bitch. While they print shit like above, they do seem to print all viewpoints. You can submit your letters here:

    http://www.register-herald.com/letters/local_story_257014847.html

  14. Stardust:

DNA, the bitch does need a good lambasting.

  15. Travdawg:

Good ol Beckley, WV. I have friends and family in this area, all are pretty rational people, all are pretty educated… but man WV certainly has it’s share of dumbasses. Such a beautiful part of the country…

Check the Register-Herald classifieds if yer ever lookin fer used shotguns

  16. ChuckA:

    “Vickie Donell” spewed (barfed?):
“Barack Obama is on record saying he would welcome peace talks with the Mid-East. Who can reason with Hamas or Hezbollah when they kill innocent people in the name of “Allah”?
And this rationally challenged, brainwashed, boneheaded ‘bitch’ mentions…”reason”?
And lest we ALL forget?…Who can “reason” with a fuckhead…albeit Fundie style “Christian”…worst of all American Presidents, who, according to the recent charge by Vincent Bugliosio, is criminally responsible for the MURDER of over 4000 American troops, as well as an over 100,000 estimated…innocent…Iraqis from his instigating a War based on lies and false pretenses. Of course, we won’t hear much of anything about that in the media; at least until after the election, etc. And before he leaves office, of course, Dubya will have already “pardoned” all his complicit minions, to prevent any possible legal prosecution!

Fundie Religious fuckheads, of ALL stripes, never cease to amaze; with their total lack of any critical thinking ability and terminally brainwashed, totally ignorant, and human fabricated, mythologically based, made-up bullshit.
    Fucking Kindergarten level, Literalist assholes!
Perhaps, as I and a few others have commented on GifS, it’s time for an increased onslaught of the Major Media Outlets on the subject of their obvious “coddling” of all the bonehead religious jerks. No surprise, of course, since many of the commentators are at just about the same rational level as those they’re coddling.
All one hears is the constant “Gawd knows”, “Gawd forbid”, “Thank Gawd” for this and that, the trite: “Our thoughts and prayer” bullshit, as well as complete ass-kissing of authors like Warren; as well as various preacher and other religious numb-skulls.
    OK…I guess it’s time for another…
    “Aarghety-Aarghety-Aarghety-Aarghety…AARGH!!!”
As well as, perhaps, the old comic strip…
    “AI-YEEEH!” (or something like that!)

  17. Ourlady of Perpetual Motion:

    Stardust,
Our local paper probably has four pages of actual local news and two of those are for “religious events”. So I may not know what’s going on in the area but I’ll never miss a junior catholic league service at an old folks home.

    Asylum Seeker,
I’m personally sick of the phrase “leader of the free world”. Even when it was first used it was a steaming crock of excrement. The presidunce doesn’t lead anything but his own country. Period.

  18. Stardust:

I’m personally sick of the phrase “leader of the free world”.

I write to many people overseas who are plenty sick of this phrase, also.

  19. Eve:

Oh, the rejoinders that come to mind reading this post:

    - “That’s some case of fatwa envy ya got there, Vickie girl.”

    - “Feel the KKKristian luuuuurve!”

    - “‘Coz our husband our father doG only beats us because he loves us soooo much…”

    - “At least your church is doing something right: it’s keeping murderous psychopaths like you off the streets.”

    - “coz poopin on ur hedz is Seeling cats JAWB!”

    and so on…

  20. kratsman:

    Stardust,

In your second link to the New Lenox Patriot, this line is from the first paragraph: “…the golden vain of truth that is in each word.” Vanity thy name is xtian truth! Anyway, I thought it was a humorous slip of the pen.

  21. Raindogzilla:

My submission at the Beckley Evening Bugle & Widget:

A message for those who believe, in general, and Vickie Donell, in particular:

    Dear Vickie and her ilk,

As proud- and thankful, as I am to have been born here in this great country, that pride has nothing to do with what you believe your imaginary friend in the sky thinks about it. As a matter of fact, one of the things I’m most proud of this nation- well, to it’s founders really, for is that your hateful and ignorant brand of delusion was specifically excluded from this secular government at it’s founding. You, dear, have no more say than I do, no more votes than I do and isn’t that wonderful? Think about it, Vickie, everytime you pull that lever for one of your pastor’s choice of candidates, I’m canceling you out with a vote for mine.

Any time you start a sentence with, “It says in the Bible,” you invalidate any point you’re trying to make. The Old Testament is nothing more than a valiant but ultimately unsuccessful attempt at making sense of the Bronze Age world. Using the Bronze Age breadth of human knowledge and the actual writing down of previously oral traditions, these scribes came up with a contradictory and massively flawed creation myth, an exodus that never happened, and a whopper of a flood yarn cribbed from the Sumerians(see Gilgamesh, Epic of). It’s complete and utter hogwash.

America is great precisely because ideas that break with tradition can be spoken, published, debated freely, and- after long, drawn out legislative process, acted upon to correct the injustices that have lingered in the minds of men for far too long. These ideas, like the equality of all humanity, be it black, white, brown, straight, gay, etc. have come about only because people like you, Vickie, haven’t the power to stop them.

I’m guessing you’re one of those Hagee followers who would have Israel not only not cede land to the Palestinians but expand it’s holdings out to some mythical boundary? That pretty much makes you some sort of mentally deficient, bloodthirsty spectator, an arsonist, if you will, standing by with another can of white gas.

No one is saying we should turn our backs on Israel but, quite frankly, there are two sides to this issue and closing one’s eyes to one only leaves one’s grasp on the topic incomplete- and dangerous. Yes, extremist Muslims are dangerous but so are the extremists of the other two Abrahamic faiths. But for the civil structure and relative prosperity of life here, it’s not that far of a reach to imagine folks like you, Vickie, strapping on suicide vests and hijacking planes. Because those insane and horrific actions are the result of delusional thinking augmented by abject poverty and tyrannical governments.

But their delusion is the same as yours and that should make you stop and think about just how ridiculous your letter was and how condescending to folks like me, who are just waiting around for people like you to wake up.

Vote Obama in ‘08, even if only to aggravate Vickie.

    That is all,

  22. Captain Al:

    Raindogzilla,
Great letter! I would pay anything to see Ms. Donell’s reaction to it.

  23. Captain Al:

Looking through the Beckley Register Herald archives I found another letter dated August 3, 2008. It carries on with the same egocentric mindset.

    Jesus was a Caucasian

I could hardly believe it when I read Adam Bailey’s May 1 effort, “Race Has No Bearing On Leadership.”What was particularly offensive was his statement that Jesus was a non-white.

My Jesus was, and is, as pure and as white as the driven snow. Jesus was a Jew, the earthly son of Joseph and Mary, but he was definitely a Caucasian.

Keeping with the same train of thought, a lady scolded me several weeks ago for not voting for Obama and she told me that Jesus wouldn’t like that because Jesus was black himself.

Who’s spreading this crap? Who’s responsible and for what reason?

Whoever it is used Bailey as a shill to spread this lie.

They used the telephone lady to spread this blasphemy. Heaven only knows what’s next.

But now we know, by Bailey’s inference, that the Jews are not God’s favored people anymore. Non-whites are in the saddle now.

It’s a story told for ever more.

  24. Stardust:

RDZ, great letter. If they do print it I expect they “edit” it and leave out a lot of good points that you make. That’s what the Herald News in Joliet likes to do. They edited a couple of my husband’s editorials to the point that it didn’t make any sense at all in some parts and we were really pissed. They refused to print a correction, and they said they reserve the right to edit and would not listen to us when we said editing does not mean “rewrite”.

As for the “Jesus was a Caucasian” letter, what a lot of dipshit morons there are in this country!

kraftsman, and “we sometimes miss the golden vain of truth that is in each word”…aaaahhh such Xian arrogance!

  25. Bill the Splut:

No. It is because we have been Israel’s allies since Day One. God has blessed this country because of this.

Day One for Israel would be May 14th, 1948. For America, July 4th, 1776. So how did America survive its first 172 un-blessed years?

Barack Obama is on record saying he would welcome peace talks with the Mid-East. Who can reason with Hamas or Hezbollah when they kill innocent people in the name of “Allah”?

PEACE IS HORRIBLE! A FATE WORSE THAN DEATH! NO, PLEASE, ANYTHING BUT PEEEACE!!!
But you can always reason with someone who kills innocent people in the name of “Jehovah”!

  26. Stardust:

Day One for Israel would be May 14th, 1948. For America, July 4th, 1776. So how did America survive its first 172 un-blessed years?

    Excellent point.

  27. Cat:

    @ Captain Al:

Whoa. That’s one steaming pile of racist garbage right there. Why in the FUCK would a newspaper print something as mindlessly juvenile and offensive as that?

Caucasian implies that one is descended from gene pools that came from northern Europe and Russia, BTW. Somehow, I don’t think Jeebus was Scandinavian. But then, people like Mr. Dickweed (I mean, Richard) don’t often think at all.

  28. Stardust:

That’s one steaming pile of racist garbage right there. Why in the FUCK would a newspaper print something as mindlessly juvenile and offensive as that?

Seems as long as there is a reference to Jeebus and Gawd, a person can get away with pretty much anything.

  29. InTheImageOfDNA:

Great letter RDZ! I really do think it has a good chance of getting in. There are several atheists around here that get their letters printed. (I stay away from directly going after religion preferring instead to go after creationist knavery - largely for familial reasons.) The letter that sparked this latest barage of fundamentalist brain-droppings was a particularly fiery one. A memorable line which I can only partially recall read “…another knife in the dead philosophy of Christianity.” But sadly, voices of reason are woefully outnumbered by the god-botherers.

    Captain Al and Cat,

I thought that that letter was sarcasm when I read it, but I don’t know for sure. Given the intellectual climate shown by Vickie-bitch’s letter, it’s hard to tell for sure.

  30. Captain Al:

    InTheImageOfDNA,
Perhaps it is sarcasm. A writer would usually make that fairly obvious though. Since they didn’t I have to assume they are sincere in their insanity.

    Cat,
As to why a paper would print something so juvenile, maybe they want to give equal time to the entire range of thought in their community. If that’s the case, Raindogzilla’s letter just might be printed.

  31. InTheImageOfDNA:

    Captain Al,

What makes me think that it may be sarcasm was the “My Jesus was, and is, as pure and as white as the driven snow” part. Can anyone who has ever lived or that has been postulated to have lived in the sun-drenched Middle East be white as snow? But again, it might not be sarcasm, just flat out ignorance.

  32. Travdawg:

    RDZ 08.

  33. Stardust:

“My Jesus was, and is, as pure and as white as the driven snow”

There are those who do believe that Jesus was white, and considering the part of the country that the person is writing from, he is most likely NOT being sarcastic. I think it’s just ignorance.

    From a site called “unknowntruths.com”

    Jesus His School Years

From Human Boy to the Messiah

    Q. Why do you depict Jesus as a Caucasian?

A.Christianity has long been the dominant religion of the Western World. The Western World has long been dominated by the Caucasian race, and thus they have traditionally portrayed Jesus as “one of them”. But traditions aside, we do not have any definite information as to the race of Jesus. We do know that he was a Jew living in the Jewish state after almost a thousand years of multiple immigrations of various cultures: Persians, Greeks, etc. We know that most of the Jews of the time were Caucasian and that most of the immigrants over the previous hundreds of years were also mostly Caucasian with some being Arabic/Semitic. Interbreeding of these resulted in a dominance of Caucasian characteristics. Jesus was thus most likely a Caucasian. There was certainly no reason for those of us working on this book to make any changes from the Caucasian tradition.

And Pastor Downy sezThere is ample proof that Jesus was White upon further study.”

If you search around the internet there are many Xians who believe just what Richard A. Bradford of
Edwight wrote in his letter, “jeebus was white as snow”.

  34. Raindogzilla:

Assuming there was an actual Jeebus at all, he probably looked a lot like this:
    jeebus?

  35. Rowen:

    Stardust,

I went to the website of that fellow in your paper. Ho, boy, that was . . . interesting. He has a .pdf pamplet on how biblical archeology proves that the bible is historically accurate. There’s a lot of “This stele has a word that if you add these letters spells King David!!” and “This temple was dedicated by Pontius Pilate!!” and “Look, these scrolls are older then we though, but still not old enough to have been written at the time we want them to have been written!!” Yup, a lot of drawing HUGE conclusions from very scanty evidence. I don’t get it. We gone past the time when people say “We found Mycenae and Troy! Everything in Greek mythology must be true!!!” So, what’s with the shitty scholarship with these. . . oh wait, I keep forgetting who I’m talking about.

The thing that made my brain really want to cower was when the pamphlet tried to use the discovery of the Epic of Gilgamesh as proof that Genesis is true. Since the stories are similar. And there’s no way that Gilgamesh could have influenced the Hebrews captive in Babylon or anything. So, once you get rid of all views that you don’t like, you’re only left with truth self delusion

  36. Stardust:

I went to the website of that fellow in your paper. Ho, boy, that was . . . interesting.

Rowen, this church is right up the road from me only a few blocks away and it’s fairly large and all full of fundie fun. Lots and lots of kids being led to believe this delusional bullshit.

Members of this whacko congregation go door-knocking even though our town banned door-to-door solicitation of any kind. When they come here I inform them of that but it doesn’t phase them. They just leave and go on to the next house to leave their turd misinformation on people’s doorsteps.

You can read more of the moron pastors’ little messages of crap here. In his sermon about Darwin Day, he tells his congregation: “I encourage everyone to check out the trailer at http://www.expelledthemovie.com. This documentary will go on a “quest to expose the suppression by science’s anti-theist elite, and unveil new scientific facts that may suggest evidence of intelligent design in the universe.”

    IDiots

The pastor of Cornerstone Christian Church looks a lot like our old buddy, Paul Manata.

  37. democommie:

    Stardust:

    That woman looks very uncomfortable.

  38. Brian:

I don’t know if reading these makes me more angry or just depressed. And these people vote!

That Alice Shannon letter makes me want to scream and break things.

  39. Eve:

No, no, no, Jesus isn’t Caucasian or African-American; he’s Asian.

    Or Arab.

    Or extraterrestrial?

    How about female?

    Buddhist?

Really, though, if a real man provided the basis for his character in the NT, he probably looked most closely like the Arab Jesus above.

Certainly not the blond, blue-eyed Jesus my Catholic relatives still have hanging in their living rooms…
