IDiocy spreading throughout Europe

22 August 2008 by Stardust

While our focus has been on the attempts of cretinists creationists here in the U.S., Answers in Genesis followers are on a mission to integrate their ID crap in public school curricula in Britain and France. It is not enough for them to teach their mythology in their churches and in their homes, and it’s not enough to work on fucking up their own country, they want to drag all people back to the dark ages with them.

These people still don’t have a clue or refuse to accept what scientific theory is. It does not mean “to guess” or to make shit up. For our fundie lurkers…once again:

From Wikipedia, In science a theory is a testable model of the manner of interaction of a set of natural phenomena, capable of predicting future occurrences or observations of the same kind, and capable of being tested through experiment or otherwise verified through empirical observation. For the scientist, “theory” is not in any way an antonym of “fact”. For example, it is a fact that an apple dropped on earth has been observed to fall towards the center of the planet, and the theories commonly used to describe and explain this behavior are Newton’s theory of universal gravitation (see also gravitation), and the general theory of relativity.

I found a rebuttal site to Answers in Genesis called NO Answers in Genesis. Creationists, please go there and READ, if you can. No god will strike you dead if you do.

    Yikes! Worldwide…firmly entrenched from birth…STUPIDITY!
One of my old personal made-up sayings (with variations) is:
“Ignorance, if unchanged or unchallenged, almost universally GUARANTEES stupidity!”
Of course, we’re all born TOTALLY ignorant…”D’uh”..so therein lies the ‘eternal’, universal ‘challenge’…without exception.
    Yeah, like…”We’re all…with no exceptions…Ignorantly Handicapped…oops…I mean….Challenged!”
Now that I got that off my…chest?…
Even the ending of the YouTube video with the phrase: “Gawd only knows!” signifies the almost “Universal” lurking, brains up the ass habitual lingo of the typical, spineless media reporting. Those kind of brainwashed phrases pop up on CNN, etc. with commentators like Wolf Blitzer, Paul Begala, etc., almost invariably adding or interweaving shtick like “Thank Gawd”, “Gawd forbid!”, etc.
Oh…you mean just like He ‘forbade’ Katrina, the 2006 Tsunami, yadda, yadda?

Yeah…OK…sorry…a somewhat major pet peeve of mine.

Thanks, Stardust, for that great “NO Answers in Genesis” link.
Another handy-dandy place to send any potentially annoying “friends”…or relatives(?) for a little…erm…
    “brain spanking”? ;)

  2. Raindogzilla:

Don’t feel to bad, Maltese creationists believe that the dinosaurs helped to construct the pyramids, which jives neatly with the whole Flintstones as a documentary. I’m guessing Pharaoh probably made a hostile takeover of the Slate Gravelpit and sent the newly enslaved Fred and his co-workers, astride their customized brontosaurii, to Luxor.

    Hmm.

At some point, since they’re no longer there, the Bedrockites must have slipped their bonds and the overseers to go on an exodus elsewhere…Oh, my gob, the Flintstones are the Israelites!

  3. Stardust:

ChuckA, there is such a wealth of information on the internet that I don’t know how these clowns are still missing it. The only thing that can explain it is that they choose to remain ignorant. Willful ignorance.

RDZ, that story about the Maltese creationists sort of reminds me of the children’s book Dinotopia.
(You never fail to crack me up with your funny scenerios! Yabba Dabba Doooooooo!)

  4. Mike:

I see your blog is called ‘God is for suckers’ - well here’s the real fly in the ointment - if God doesn’t exit, it really doesn’t matter - so we’re all screwed! If God does exist, it really does matter - and YOU’RE really screwed!!

  5. Stardust:

I see your blog is called ‘God is for suckers’

Yes, you have a keen eye for the obvious. Anyone who believes that there is a god who is concerned with mere specks of humans on a speck of a planet in the vastness of the universe, and keeps track of what is in the minds and actions of each speck of billions and billions of human beings past, present and future as well as being in charge of the Eternal Hell Penitentiary, anyone who believes that such god would create a son for himself via raping a virgin and and recreating himself into half-human being and then killing himself/his son in a most gruesome and horrific way and then coming back as a zombie and flying up into another realm is indeed a SUCKER.

    - well here’s the real fly in the ointment - if God doesn’t exit, it really doesn’t matter - so we’re all screwed! If God does exist, it really does matter - and YOU’RE really screwed!!

You god believers are so pessimistic about life. You are obsessed with people being screwed and fancy yourself special to your imaginary being. Why can’t you just accept that we are lucky to be alive for the short time we are, live life in the best way you can being glad for each day that you are alive and have an appreciation for life and other human beings instead of all this gruesome mythology obsession that consumes your life? There is no imaginary fly in any imaginary ointment…no god. So, start living and stop obsessing about things that are not real.

I don’t value my life any less because there is no god. I value my life because I am, I live.

  6. Raindogzilla:

    Dear Mike,

Pascal’s Wager, even paraphrased- and uncredited no less! That’s so 17th century, man.

  7. Mike:

    Hey Stardust,

I couldn’t have put have put it more venomously if I were the serpent himself!

There is the expected persecution complex kicking in when someone disagrees with you. No intelligent rebuttal, just reference to magical talking snakes!

Ask yourself where this anger comes from. Go to this page and pray the magical words yadda yadda yadda.

Sorry Mike, no proseltyzing! Read the comment policy. The go try to really think about what I wrote above.

  8. Stardust:

Mike, you Christians are also obsessed with the word “anger”. The fundies in my family use it quite often, and I do believe that they are the ones who hold a lot of anger within themselves because they can only see mistakenly that everyone else is angry. You are most likely angry that there are those of us who do not buy into your delusions. You cannot fathom not being part of the Borg, the sheeple flock who follow only what their pastors brainwash them with. Start thinking for yourself, and you will really SEE.

  9. karen:

    RDZ

I do not buy that the Flintstones were the Israelites. No sir. Fred would never have missed bowling night to go wandering in the desert. And Wilma would not have given up her bird dishwasher.

  10. karen:

    Dear Mike

Why are we all screwed if god doesn’t exist?

  11. AtheistUnderMask:

Actually Karen, he said if god EXITS. Which means… well I don’t know exactly. Perhaps it’s that scene from Family Guy where god sets the bar on fire.

  12. karen:

    AUM

ROFL! I didn’t catch that! Here’s his actual quote:

if God doesn’t exit, it really doesn’t matter - so we’re all screwed!

I get a mental image of Gob on the beltline with a car full of screaming kids, and he can’t concentrate and figure out what exit to take, so he just keeps going round and round and round on the beltway, to infinity-and beyond! :-D

  13. Mike:

Thanks Raindogzilla for letting us all know what it’s called - a true service to God.

By the way - do you spend you’re whole life citing references to everything you say because every idea you’ve had has probably been expressed by someone else before?

I also noticed no one has yet successfully challenged the ‘wager’ and certainly not here!

No Proselytizing! An athiestic defence mechanism, and as for messing around with what I said - God bless you - oh of course, you’ll cut that out.

Karen and athiestundermask - remember to just say NO!

  14. Dana:

Why is it that every time creationists and other radical lunatics are in the news, they get 95% of the time to spew whatever nonsense they like? Notice how the scientist at the end only gets to say one sentence?

Why is it that these journalists never include the one line that would utterly refute teaching it — that science involves theories that can be TESTED and because this theory cannot be tested and involves invisible creatures it is not based in science and therefore is NOT science? Besides, it’s not unbiased reporting to add a little comment at the end about god.

I don’t give a damn if you teach ID in philosophy classes, but trying to mix it with the actual sciences is going to be our downfall.

  15. Stardust:

By the way - do you spend you’re whole life citing references to everything you say because every idea you’ve had has probably been expressed by someone else before?

Troll Mike, Sounds more like god botherers to me. You are the ones who spend so much time in brainwashing centers and also so much time self-brainwashing yourselves with your mythology book (only the parts you cherry pick, though according to your own needs, thoughts and desires.) God believers like yourself, Mike have zero evidence or support for anything you say or believe. Like Santa Claus, you take it on faith like a little child. Ignorant.

I also noticed no one has yet successfully challenged the ‘wager’ and certainly not here!

Wager? You offered no wager. You simply made an either/or comment. You don’t even know what you are talking about when you use the term “wager”.

No Proselytizing! An athiestic defence mechanism, and as for messing around with what I said - God bless you - oh of course, you’ll cut that out.

That is the rules of this blog. No proselytizing. We have heard it all before. Most of us have been Christians, and we all have been in extensive conversation with Christians such as yourself. You are not the first troll to come along. You have nothing new to say. As for messing around with what you said, you are just asking for it by coming by here with your self-righteous attitude and no evidence or support for what you spew out. (And it’s spelled “atheist defense”…there are many online dictionaries and we do have spell checker. If you misspell something a little red line goes underneath the word.)

Karen and athiestundermask - remember to just say NO!

This just doesn’t make any sense at all. Karen asked you a question which you didn’t answer “Why are we all screwed if god doesn’t exist?”

Any more antagonistic comments are going to be deleted.

  16. Mike:

    Stardust

So you’ve been a Christian - You mean you were raised in a Christian family but never quite accepted it, or you meant you went to church once, or something happened and you got angry! (Oh there’s that word again:-). If you really were a Christian he’s alraedy claimed you and wont leave you alone.

Stardust here (it’s easier to respond this way), I was a “True believer” and even took my kids to Sunday school. I was baptized twice, once as a baby, and once again when my parents forced us all to go to a Baptist church for two years and they said my first magical water experience wasn’t the true magical water experience. And no, there is no god to claim anyone. The only way one believes in god is to choose to be deluded. You have to keep brainwashing yourself. Constant church services, and constant self-brainwashing and telling yourself that your god is real. It’s a lot of work to keep believing because no god shows himself and there is no evidence for his existence. No anger involved. Can’t be angry at something that doesn’t exist. I do feel a bit foolish though for wasting all those hours in church and teaching sunday school. That I do regret. But my education in science, anthropology, astronomy, sociology, psychology, Bible as Literature, World Religions, World Mythology classes all made me realize that humans make up so much crap instead of pursuing true knowledge.

There’s nothing more important than your eternal soul. Even being right has dubious value! Winning an argument just feeds the ego.

Where is your evidence that we have souls? Your desire to live forever via your god/religion etc. is a selfish desire…and the only reason you all believe what you do. For the imagined rewards and fear of death and non existence. You just cannot be glad for the existence you have, and be glad for just having the life you are living.

In answer to Karen’s question - If there is no eternal life, I’m no worse off than you. I get to live a truly satisfying life and then when it finishes, it finishes. but it’s really all been for nothing!

You do not understand that one cannot simply will themselves to believe something that we find absurd. And if one pretends and there is a god, then that god will know that you are pretending just as an insurance policy to get some big “prize”. There is no eternal life. You should stop spending so much time pining away for some imagined afterlife and your inevitable death and live in the here and now with whatever time you have on this planet. Living life with no gods, no rewards is NOT for nothing. I think life is wonderful and am glad to have been born. Life is what you make it and what you do in this life gives your life meaning. Lots of god believers still live life for nothing, do nothing, contribute nothing but still think they are going to get a special reward for merely existing. That is really sad.

If there is eternal life - I get to live forever in peace and harmony, and so do all those who believe as I.

It’s a fantasy. There is no evidence of an afterlife, and like I said before we cannot simply turn on and off belief like a light switch. We should focus on living in peace and harmony here on earth, in reality while we are alive. You waste so much focusing on an afterlife and care little for this world we live in and is why there is so much war and turmoil. The world is full of whackadoos waiting for a non-existent afterlife. If there was a god who wanted peace and harmony forever why would he have to create an earth that is fucked up and giving humans the free will to make choices he isn’t going to like. Why not just create a heaven with everyone kissing his feet like you Christians claim this god wants. Why play games with his creations? The Christian mythology is as strange, violent, absurd, barbaric, etc as any other of the world mythologies. Yesterday’s religions are today’s mythologies, today’s religions are tomorrow’s mythologies.

I don’t have to win the argument - God wins - he always will!

There is no god. This is not a game. This is just some beliefs you have and you want others to jump on the god bandwagon in order to validate your beliefs. OR if we reject your beliefs, you can run back to your cult and tell them how you conversed with the big bad atheists and they rejected you and have a boo-hoo persecution session with them.

No need for me to carry on here - my work is done - he’ll send another soul to keep the discussion going.

Work? LOLOL! Trolling blogs is work? LOL …hey everybody…we are all working so hard here, aren’t we? Do you really believe your god is a great puppet master that controls millions and millions of individuals past, present and future while running a burning inferno of a penitentiary for those who simply do not believe? And why does this god need mere humans to witness for him? Why does he never show himself. If you are in trouble, no help comes unless humans come to the rescue. If you are stranded and dying on a deserted island and pray for help…no god comes…you die. Of course then the brainwashed will say it was “god’s will” to let you die. But if humans come and help you then they praise god. There is no god involved. No one gets saved or helped except via human intervention. And I deleted your magical incantation that was your farewell…but my bet is that you will be back because you are curious and will be lurking. ;)

  17. karen:

    Mike
What do you mean” just say no”? Are you implying AUM and I are taking drugs? You are the one with delusions. As for the “wager,” you would have to believe in all the gods ever thought up to cover your ass with that wager, not just one.
Now, how about answering my question. Just how are we all screwed if god doesn’t exist?

  18. Stardust:

Just how are we all screwed if god doesn’t exist?

Karen, I think Mike means that life is worthless if there is no god to kiss the ass of. I have a troll at my personal blog who calls himself “wretched and filthy”…isn’t that a nice way of looking at yourself? Their religion is teaching them that they are nothing without magical beliefs. They cannot see life for what it is. We are here only a short while and they waste so much time looking forward to an afterlife that there is no evidence for. They spend their whole lives preparing for death…what happens AFTER their life here, which is the only one they will ever have. Sad, isn’t it?

  19. karen:

    Stardust
Well maybe Mike needs a god’s ass to kiss to be happy, but I sure don’t. And I don’t need an afterlife or even the promise of one to get me through this one. This life is pretty damn skippy, even with all it’s peaks and valleys.
It is sad to spend life preparing for the next one, especially when there won’t be a next one.

Mike - Still waiting for your answer.

  20. ChuckA:

[Pardon a little personal life prefacing]…
As I’ve said quite a few times on GifS…Mainly because of an Irish Catholic mom; I was baptized Catholic, as a baby, and was educated by grammar school nuns, high school Christian Brothers, and went to Catholic University (DePaul U. in Chicago). It was there that, while encountering Philosophy, Science, (and Music) etc., I finally started to SERIOUSLY question my long held brainwashed belief in a deity. Since then…like some of you…having gone through many various phases of agnosticism, New Age, Eastern oriented beliefs, even a brief encounter with ‘born-again’ lunacy, and yes…UFO “wonderings”…I’ve finally reached the final stage(?) of…Skeptical atheism…and/or, perhaps more accurately…anti-religion!
    Having said that…
    What’s that you say?…”WHY, Chuck?”
In thinking about the whole “afterlife” subject; it seems to me that the absolute dumbest, narrowest, and most vicious scenario that has been forcefully foisted on human minds throughout history has to be that of the Judeo-Christian/Muslim…or Abrahamic model…of fantasy/terror. [Although the Jews don't hammer away on that shtick.]
Yeah…What a bogus “Free Will” choice:
“Kiss a pathological god’s ass for Eternity and get a completely Voyeuristic “reward” of some vague “la-la-land” praising scenario of totally mysterious and unspecified BS…OR…
Burn in a totally monstrous inferno dreamed up by the same pathological psycho who first designed it for another of ‘His ‘previously failed “once-favorite angelic fuckheads”…Satan (aka Lucifer, etc.) and ‘his’ hoards of asinine minions.
What fucking unjust, terrifying, screwball asininity that doctrine is to brainwash little children into! Definitely, one form of child abuse! And what a monstrous “Tyrannical Archetype” that notion of deity portrays.
We atheists, I’m reminded, have one ‘universal’ thing in common…non-belief in ANY gods.
Other than that…regarding ANY afterlife notions…be it the usual Fundie doctrine…reincarnational possibilities…or otherwise…I’d say…we really don’t know! There’s NO indisputable, tangible evidence…and certainly no proof of a “soul” or independent “consciousness”. There are, from my experience, some interesting “anecdotal” stories about supposed “other lives” etc.; but, they’re just that…totally anecdotal!
And…I personally contend: “gods” and “afterlife” are two distinct notions. In particular, the latter does not necessitate the former! Take certain forms of Buddhism, f’rnstance!
    Ok…Sorry for blabbing so much!
Here’s my suggestion on this subject, to the obviously brainwashed “Mike” or other Fundie trolls; as a general comparison of “Afterlife” scenarios; which I think the Judeo-Christian-Muslim is amongst the absolute WORST, in comparison:
    “Afterlife” at Wikipedia:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afterlife
ONLY for comparison sake…my fellow atheists…and trolls! Certainly, no proslytizing intended!
The old Shakespearian [and Existentialist]: “To BE…or NOT to BE!…OR perhaps, re-phrased…
To EXIST…or NOT to EXIST…THAT…would be a TRUE “Free Will” choice scenario…?
    ;)

  21. Tom S. Fox:

Believe me, they would never get away with this in Germany!

  22. cry4turtles:

Why are we all screwed if god doesn’t exist?

Some of us like to get screwed. WooHooo!

  23. Stardust:

cry4turtles, Christians, especially evangelicals in the south love to get screwed and make illegitimate babies. They “go forth and multiply” all over the place…like rabbits.

  24. Raindogzilla:

So, Mike, who’s never had an idea in his life that didn’t come from a Bronze Age fairy tale, is calling me out for a lack of originality? Priceless…and interest free.

  25. Stardust:

RDZ, and after he addresses you he cops out and runs away before he can get your response. Typical.

  26. democommie:

    Mike! Mike! Mike!

Sorry I got here too late to “discuss” your mental disorder with your. It looks as if you found some other caregivers to help you out.

Are you there, man? Like, man, I hope you’re lurking. If so, go fuck yourself.
