Don’t Fuck with Dave

24 September 2008 by Bob

You’re supposed to be on Dave, and then you lie, cancel, and then go on Katie?…

Bad move, John…

I’m guessing that maybe it had something to do with Keith — but that’s just speculation…

McLame is showing just how desperate he is for people not to find out the truth that he may be a POW hero, but that doesn’t qualify him to be president. Being a Mom does not qualify Palin to be VP. Both are trying to hide how incredibly stupid they are under the disguise of caring about the economy. Come on, that is totally ridiculous. As Obama has said, a president should be able to do more than one thing at once, and I say a VP should be able to step in and answer some fucking questions. They are trying to hide their incompetence and it’s so totally obvious.

  2. fritzy:

That is awesome. And yes, I think Dave was onto something when he suggested that slipping poll numbers may be the reason for his abscence.

I hope this cost McPTSD at least a few votes, although that’s probably just wishful thinking.

  3. democommie:

    HE.IS.NOT.A.HERO!!!

He was shot down, like several hundred other American airmen during the Vietnam war. He is not a hero, he WAS a POW. That shit is over. What he is now is a lying sack of crap, who, if satan existed, would have hired HIM to manage the campaign.

I hope Letterman rides him like a pony from here on out. If any of what Letterman said sticks around for a newscycle or two, the rest of the media will HAVE to say something.

  4. hogarm:

    Cindy… Sarah…Katie…
If this was Bill Clinton we would have something.

  5. OurLady of Perpetual Motion:

I thought Olberman was on as a last minute fill in for mcstain. If not then yeah, that’s probably one of the big reasons why his owners told him to run away screaming with his panties in a bunch.

I love that Dave called him out on it. Even showed footage of the liar on the other set. I think that says a lot to the average person watching. He ditched Dave, LIED about it and ran away to do the powder puff interview with Miss fluffy brains because they knew she’d work a lot harder to make him look smart etc. Whereas Dave would treat him like a man running for president and expect him to be able to hold his own. Which we all know he can’t do.

Why do you think they’re so desperate now to postpone the debates? He’s a complete mess. And he even suggested the VP debates should be postponed as well for no reason. They are piss-in-their-pants scared of mcpalin trying to answer questions in front of an audience and cameras. I guess because even they know corrupt evangelical half-wits don’t make for good television or good candidates.

Since the latest economic crisis began mcstain has been losing his grip on his campaign. It was flaccid before but now it’s flailing wildly and circling the drain.
You know things are getting bad when even your water carrying press minions start to ask questions.

Now if only he could maintain this downward spiraling free fall until Nov.

  6. Karen:

Way to slice and dice McShame, Dave! Some good jabs in there at Palin, too. I’m actually kind of looking forward to the debates now. I wonder how long LookatMeI’maHero can put off ICanMultitask.

  7. 666:

    Our Lady,
I also got the impression K.O. was a last minute fill-in. Nice post.

    demo,
I absolutely agree on the “hero” misnomer. Hero, to me, means that you did something extraordinary in an effort to save/help others. There are so many of those (that never get that recognition) that it diminishes the term.

  8. Stardust:

And still scared shitless of debating Obama,

McCain leaves presidential debate up in the air

  9. fritzy:

Isn’t a hero someone that performs a great deal of community service? I dunno, maybe someone like Obama?

  10. democommie:

    fritzy:

Sorry, only republicans can be heroes, too bad, so sad.

  11. Eve:

I agree with you guys: since Vietnam, our national rhetoric in regards to military service has swung to the opposite extreme, and now anyone who’s been in the armed forces for whatever period of time and whatever their experience there is automatically a “hero,” especially if they enter public life. McSame is a survivor, a “winner” in that regard as anyone who survives a bad trauma “wins,” but certainly not necessarily a “hero.” If he were unassuming about it, as in “no biggie; lots of other guys went through the same hell I did, and worse,” he’d earn my respect, albeit grudgingly if he didn’t change any other of his positions, but his shameless milking of that inapt descriptor just turns my stomach now.

Craig Ferguson, who follows Letterman each night, also ripped McSame a new one for his blatant dodging. And don’t Katie’s marshmallow ways just chew you up inside? She makes female journalists look like we’re too soft to do real interviewing and reporting.

  12. fritzy:

Language and words are powerful. Our choice of words, both as individuals and a society as a whole say a lot about our philosophy on a number of topics, and in turn also have a profound effect on our view of those topics.

The term “war hero” is not simply over used; it is a word that should not exist. There are no “heroes” in war; it is not a term we should use in the context or war. I respect every vet who has given of themselves for our country, but the notion that any of them are “heroes” is huberistic and jingoisitic and reflects our nations tendency to romanticize war.

I’m glad that people such as McCain served, and I’m equally happy he survived the ordeal as many, unfortunately, did not. But he is not a “hero,” at least not for his military service. It has no bearing on his ability to lead this country. It cetainly wasn’t enough for Kerry (and thanks to Swift boating, actually worked against him through no fault of his own.)

“War Vet,” OK, “Survivor and ex-POW of the Vietnam War,” fine, but “War Hero?;” let’s clean up our language and overhaul our national philosophy towards war in general.

  13. fritzy:

    Eve;

Couric is emblematic of the mass media as a whole. CBS’ choice of Katie to take the helm was entirely predictable for a business (and that’s the problem really, isn’t it?; that media is now a business first and foremost) more concerned with image and selling ad time than substance.

  14. sargoth:

To paraphrase LBJ when Walter Cronkite returned from Vietnam; “If I’ve lost Letterman, I’ve lost America”.

  15. democommie:

    Sargoth:

Oh,no. There’s still Leno and Conan. And he can always do a “guest shot” on one of those ‘natural enhancements” shows (those are the ones that run before and after the miracle bowel cleanser infomercials with the guy who looks like John Waters). Actually that sort of sleazy crap is much more in line with Campaign McStain’s objectives.

  16. 666:

    fritzy,
Your observations (10:24pm) are well put. Especially in regards to the power of words. (It’s one of my pet peeves that so many people get offended when corrected about their misuse of language. I personally welcome such corrections since , otherwise, the message becomes garbled and confusing - often conveying the impression of poor thinking)

War hero (in my internal dictionary) is an oxymoron. The folks that use it just morons.

  17. Sam:

Fuck Dave. Fuck the Democrat party and the Republican party I don’t believe in God or political parties. Why does it seem that this website is as much a pro-democrat site as it is an anti religious site?

  18. Stardust:

Sam, while we here are not “pro-Democrat”, most moderators and commenters here are liberal Democrats or Independents. If you are looking for an anarchist site, you have come to the wrong place. We are not anti-God because you cannot be against something that does not exist. But we are against those beliefs of others being forced on us and into the public realm.

People are free to believe whatever they choose to believe in this country and we are free to make fun of those beliefs. However what this group is about is pro-separation of church and state and for people keeping their religious delusion out of our secular government.

What this site is mainly about is in the header above…

Commentary, news, and rants on the evils and stupidity of belief in the big invisible daddy in the sky. Illuminating and watchdogging the widespread attempts to institutionalize the theocratic rule of the US. Making fun of believers everywhere.

Right now, some of us may not be crazy about any of the candidates, but you can bet we will be a whole lot safer choosing the lesser of two evils, as usual, by voting for Obama and keeping that insanity of Palin as far away from the White House as possible. Let her go back to her Alaskan refuge from the boogeyman of the Apocalypse and keep away from the mainland.

  19. Sam:

Both parties candidates pretend to believe in god and religion. Remember Bill Clinton and his extra large bible? I don’t see how democrat religiousness is better than the republicans. Is it that some of you believe one of the parties are just faking it? No one from any political persuasion will force beliefs on me. Most liberal democrats I have talked to, believe in a god, but instead of believing the bible, they believe what they want. If I believed there was a god, I think I might follow the bible instead of making up my own.

  20. millinniummany3k:

I’d be careful in all honesty, because this sort of thing is going to cause the issue to come to a head. Anyone who sticks their head up will get it shot off, blown right off.

  21. Sam:

No, we won’t be better off voting for the lesser of two evils. You still end up voting for evil. We would be better off voting for someone like Jesse Ventura or any other independent who actually believes in separation of church and state. Ron Paul endorsed Chuck Baldwin I need to check him out.
