Sarah Palin, Pastor Muthee and Witchhunting
29 September 2008 by StardustGlad to see more of Palin’s whackadoo beliefs discussed on national television.
Keith Olbermann finally did a segment on Palin being purged of witchcraft influences a couple nights ago, and Keith also brought to light Thomas Muthee’s obsession with witchcraft in Africa and the fear-mongering he is doing there igniting superstitious witch-hunts which often have tragic outcomes. Olbermann is right on when he says that Muthee makes Rev. Wright seems “like Father Flannigan from Boy’s Town! And Rev. Wright isn’t running for the second most powerful position in the nation, and the world. [Ed note: I should explain that as it was pointed out to me, neither is Muthee running for public office, however Obama has distanced himself from his whackadoo pastor while Palin embraces witch-hunter Muthee and some very bizarre and disturbing religious beliefs.]
I am sure more and more videos will surface about Palin’s religious nuttery the closer we get to election time. It would be great if they found one of her rolling on the floor speaking in jibberish as is customary in her denomination. Maybe a few snake-handling sessions, too?
McCain showed extreme lack of judgment in choosing Palin as his running mate. There were so many more distinguished and experienced women to choose from. He just wanted to add spark and dazzle for appearances sake to his campaign without any consideration of who Sarah Palin really is and what her true religious intentions are, which, first and foremost are to promote her religious propaganda — to win for Jeeezus. Hopefully Palin will be the weight that keeps dragging McCain down, down, down.

Is it Murthee…or Muthee?
[Certainly...Murky?]

Thanks ChuckA, corrections made. I am still on pain meds and my mind is “murky’!

“Olbermann is right on when he says that Muthee makes Rev. Wright seems “like Father Flannigan from Boy’s Town! And Rev. Wright isn’t running for the second most powerful position in the nation, and the world.”
Olbermann is right? Muthee isn’t running for anything. Wrights student is running for president.
29 September 2008, on 3:07 pm
Shooting demon snakes and laying on of hands? Wow. I would be laughing my ass off if this woman didn’t have a chance at being VP and then possibly the leader of this country. Now it just makes me cringe at the stupidity and a teensy bit worried about the possibility of living in the dark ages in the 21st century.

Olbermann is right that Rev Wright seems like Father Flannigan of Boy’s Town when compared to Pastor Muthee.
I was trying to say that Wright’s crazy isn’t anywhere near Muthee’s crazy, Obama’s religious background is nothing at all like the whackadoo stuff that Palin still believes in. Obama has distanced himself from his whackadoo pastor and has withdrawn from that church while Palin embraces witch-hunter Muthee and some very bizarre and disturbing religious beliefs.
I am still quite skeptical about Obama as President, however, Obama and Biden look a lot less frightening than McLame and whackadoo Palin. I have changed my mind about sitting this one out and will have to vote for Obama just to keep the lunatic from getting anywhere near the nuclear buttons.

InTheImageOfDNA, it amazes me how many stupid people there are who elected Dubya, so we have a right to be very nervous right now. Citizens brag about this being the greatest nation on the face of the planet, and then elect cretins to public office. It’s mind boggling.
29 September 2008, on 5:56 pm
Stardust: Citizens brag about this being the greatest nation on the face of the planet,
Yeah, one that can’t even manage its own money right. Have you guys seen the latest brouhaha over the economy? I thought conservatives and Republicans and the other assorted rich people we’re supposed to admire for their success were supposed to be, oh I don’t know, experts in handling finances, especially on a national scale.
Hey, JH Bowden, ai kan haz mai own home now?
29 September 2008, on 6:26 pm
Both Palin and Obama’s churches are whacked out, and I hardly think this crazy story exonerates his 20 year attendance at a race-baiting institution, making him suddenly a great candidate.
I’ve never given much thought to atheists before, but I’m SICK of our candidates having to have some sort of fantasyland beliefs to qualify them for the most powerful positions in the country. And these idiots think gay marriage is ruining everything.
I’m better off not paying attention because this is just so frustrating. And there’s NOTHING that can be done. I’m not voting this time because of these church stories. It’s like voting for idiot #1 or idiot #2, making me idiot #3 for choosing one.
29 September 2008, on 7:50 pm
I don’t think anyone here has said that Obama is suddenly a “great candidate”, I don’t see where I said that. I did say that he is looking better and better with more and more whackadoo stuff we are discovering about Palin. Obama’s delusional magical beliefs are far less dangerous than Palin’s whackadoo delusional beliefs because Obama has stated he is in support of maintaining separation of church and state and upholding the Constitution of the U.S. and respect for the diversity of this nation and freedom of religion and freedom to hold no beliefs at all. That is not at all what Palin believes and while both say they talk to God all the time and ask their magical sky daddy for guidance, Palin actually believes she is on some sort of quest to save the world before The End of Times which she has stated she believes will happen in her lifetime. She looks at herself as some sort of annointed one, chosen by the likes of Muthee and other witch-hunters and demon-hunters who believe they are doing the work of their God.
Palin is more than an idiot, she is a delusional idiot, a talking in jibberish-believing idiot. She fools people with her charm and soccer mom bullshit and it’s amazing how many idiot voters fall for it.
I am quite sick of it myself, as we all are. But this is where we are at in this time in history and it pisses me off, too. I can’t remember a time in my life when fanatics were being elected to public office. Is this evidence that people are becoming dumber as time goes by? Is this the beginning of the fall of Rome all over again because people are flattered so easily by bullshit and then we will be overtaken and won’t even realize how it happened?
29 September 2008, on 8:03 pm
I didn’t mean to imply that anyone on this thread made the “exoneration” assumption. I guess I should’ve been more clear. I believe that Olbermann was fighting fire with fire, but I think he went overboard by intimating that Wright is a comparable angel to this Muthee freak. What Wright does is deleterious in it’s own way by using the pulpit to demonize white people, America or whoever he doesn’t like. Obama may be following a better ideology of separating church and state, but he’s definately shown himself willing to woo the religious sects. Who knows what wooing will take place once he’s in office. And these candidates have proven over and over that they’re willing to throw their principals into the dumpster to get votes.
But I may agree that he would be the lesser of two evils.

What disappointed me is that he is wooing already by saying he will support Bush’ s faith-based-initiative bullshit.

A couple of us have written posts on Rev Wright when all that was in the news. Some say that Obama has to go along with the fundie crap to try to win, but IMO he is genuine about his sky daddy beliefs.
I really wish we could wipe the slate clean and start over, but that is never going to happen. So…which one is less threatening is who we have to choose. If Palin had her way we would all live for God in a pretty little theocracy for Jeebus.
29 September 2008, on 11:56 pm
Yes folks, we’re stuck with the old “lesser of two evils” crap that’s almost hard to determine exactly when that started. In one way, I guess, it’s always been the situation; but like a long musical crescendo, it’s way beyond “triple Forte” (extremely loud) now.
I haven’t voted since the ‘96 election (in which I voted for Clinton…die-hard Liberal that I am). I missed voting in 2000 because of not being registered due to a change in address; and didn’t register until a couple of weeks ago.
As an aside…I found out that not being registered no longer keeps one off the Jury Duty list…yeah…I did that this year for the first time in my life! (My…How Patriotic!) These days, due to all the post 9/11…gestapo antics?…if you have a license, or State ID…
“Uncle Sam Wants YOU!”
(After age 70, as I understand, you can tell the government to go fuck themselves!)
My point is, that even though my state (Illinois) is pretty much in the “Blue” column, I definitely DON’T want the next four years to be controlled by the (much) greater of two evils…the Rethuglican fuckheads! At least, by voting, I’ll feel I contributed SOMETHING towards that goal.
Yeah…what a fucking choice! I’m reminded of an old Laurel and Hardy line (paraphrased a bit):
“Heas anotha nice mess THEY’VE gotten ourselves into!”
Also…I can’t afford…and I’m too old…to move to Canada…or…
Sweden?
Anotha line comes to mind…from “The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy”
(checks out the window for a friendly looking UFO?):
“Whatever you do…
DON’T PANIC!”
What’s that you say?…
“AAAGH!!!”…???

In the state of illinois there is virtually no chance in haiti that McCain will win. Feeling as though you are forced to vote for Obama to prevent a McCain / Palin administration would be ignoring that fact. The two party systm depends on this. A vote for Nader or whomever in a solid blue state could have real beneficial results.
Palin is running as a religious nut, whereas Obama is running as a divider (oops I meant uniter) – which makes his Wright an issue of honesty and hypocrisy. I am not going to tell anyone to vote for McCain, but please dont let yourself be tricked by the two party system. I am still hoping that Clinton will get the nomination that she won by popular vote. You never know, something could happen.

jimmy dean, that is a very good point. Obama pretty much has my state wrapped up. My husband is voting third party as a protest vote. But in many states it’s close…tooooo close and would rather people vote Obama and take our chances with the Obama – Biden team than the pasty old fart and his hocky mom Pentecostal sidekick.
I am still hoping that Clinton will get the nomination that she won by popular vote. You never know, something could happen.
When pigs fly, unfortunately.
This is disappointing that we live in a land with so many dumbasses to nominate the idiots that we now have to choose from. It shows that we need to improve our educational systems and quit aiding those who are promoting ignorance and sky daddy superstitions.

We’re having our election now because prime minister fat boy harper was told by his owners to do it before the US elections.
They’re running the standard hit ads for their conservotard candidates because fat boy is as unpopular as the stunned chimp in the states and doesn’t have any other way to win.
They want me to be afraid because the OTHER guy will raise taxes.
But our taxes go up every year anyway with NO benefit to the populace so what difference does it make?
It’s just all money for the douchebag pols to play with. There’s a surplus in the budget so they want more. Meanwhile we have roads so damaged they’ll tear the bottom out of your car and hospitals that close emergency rooms on the weekend because there’s no money to pay the staff. But my politician tells me there’s nothing he can do.
That I believe. What can a stuffed suit do but lie and shake hands?
I’d like to believe that people aren’t dumb enough to keep voting in the f**kers who keep stealing their money, health care, social services and benefits but I know I’m just pissing up a rope.
30 September 2008, on 8:37 pm
OurLady, I’ve also heard recently that you folks over there across the pond are the population under the most surveillance and the most constant on the planet; how does it feel in Orwelliland? Do you feel safer?
30 September 2008, on 11:17 pm
Just watched. There’s just no bottom to the muck, is there?

This just in…
According to a webpage which is no longer online but which is cached at Internet Archive, Thomas Muthee, the religious zealot whose incantations Sarah Palin believes led to her being elected Governor, claims to have cured 23 people of AIDS…
http://web.archive.org/web/20031213164752/www.godsglory.org/prayercave/main/cc1.html
The claim that Thomas Muthee cured 23 people of AIDS made me laugh when I first read it but that laughter ended as I came to the grim realization that the false hope he gave may have led to exponentially more infections. Disturbing, infuriating, sad… and just another example of how dangerous the people who Sarah Palin has surrounded herself with are.

This is quite disturbing to think that these people who think they are cured of AIDS are most likely going around spreading death sentences upon others. Christians and their interference always make things worse. They believe they are helping when they are actually doing more harm than good.

Stardust,
Sad but true. If only there were as many James Randis as there are faith healers.

Relatively speaking Obama IS a great candidate. He’s bright and articulate and hardly eager to start unnecessary wars. He also taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago, so I think he understands the legal foundations for the necessary separation of Church and State. I’m confident that any public embracing of Christianity that he’s done has been largely to offset the continuing smearing of him by the GOP propaganda machine as a Muslim.
Even if this feels like a choice between the lesser of two evils, there’s no excuse to sit this one out. Considering the pervasive pernicious racism in our country, there’s too good a chance that this race will be close. Any thinking atheist (or thinking American, for that matter) MUST vote for Obama/Biden if they don’t want to risk seeing this country sink further and further into a failed-state theocracy.
17 October 2008, on 1:35 pm
It blows my mind that some of you who say are Americans and who profess to allow and to enforce the freedom of religion and of thoughts can be so critical, impatient, and contradictory when it comes to religious preferences and with people who think differently from you. It amazes me that you can easily accept gay marriage, the killing of small babies inside of their mother’S wombs, and things alike, which are contrary to the human nature, and yet, can speak so boldly against religious practices that you don’t know anything about. You better stick with the political debate, which would help all that read your comments, than stirring up inconstitutional and intolerant thoughts against religious freedom.
Also, you better be absolutely sure that there is no God in heaven, that He doesn’t hear your words and does not care about them. You better be sure there is no Judgment Day awaiting for every human being in the after life. You better have scientific proofs of that to be so sure, because there are some events based on faith that can be proved scientifically, as for example, the back problem I used to have and that no doctor or treatment could heal, but after prayer was totally healed. The XR could not read the problem after that. Be sure of these things before you can be hold accountable to God, if He does exist, as I believe.
17 October 2008, on 3:42 pm
Amazed
Part of our freedom of speech is that we CAN be critical of religion and those who think differently from us. Which is why you are afforded a voice here. But if you are not more careful, it may be your last time. From our commenting policy, which you apparently did not bother to check, I give you:
Clarification in big letters for the slow learners:
If you come here and witness, you will be banned.
If you come here and proselytize, you will be banned.
If you come here and threaten us with eternal damnation for not believing in your invisible sky daddy, you will be banned.
Now, as to your other complaints, gay marriage and babies dying in the mothers’ wombs are not contrary to nature. There is an abundance of homosexual behavior throughout nature, and as for marriage, that is a contrivance of man, so in any form, hetero or gay, it has nothing to do with nature. The natural state for most species is not monogamy; that is a relatively new social concept in terms of the scope of human existence. And if you insist on believing in a supernatural being, then you must admit that your “god” kills more babies in the womb than man could ever dream of doing.
And yes, we do know quite a bit about religions and their practices. Most of us were once religious ourselves, and all have researched religions more so than the average believer. We could probably describe more about your variety of religion than you could yourself.
And while you’re dropping the first part of Pascal’s Wager on us, you better make sure that YOUR god is THE only god in heaven- or the right one- or the most powerful one – and not just the one with the best PR team. Your little back anecdote is no proof of prayer working. Double blind scientific studies have proven that prayer has absolutely no effect, other than what one would get from simple meditation, or believing in a placebo. If prayer works, why doesn’t god heal amputees? Why hasn’t he fed all the hungry who have no doubt asked for it? Why has he not brought rains to the drought stricken third world? Why has he not stopped genocide. You know someone has asked for these things. Your Bible says, “Ask, and you shall receive.” The truth is, there is no god to answer prayers. There is only man to help other men.
Believe what you want. Discuss differences if you want. But don’t come in here preaching or witnessing or you’ll be banned.
