Mondo proves that religion divides

5 January 2009 by Stardust

It’s been awhile since I have written about Pastor Mondo because I have been trying to ignore the bullcrap he writes in our local paper’s “Pastor’s Corner” and save myself the annoyance. But my husband pointed this one out from a couple weeks ago. Mondo intentionally proves that his religion is not a religion of peace, but a religion of divisiveness, pitting family members against each other, friends against friends, neighbor against neighbor. And he seems excited about it! Frightening that this guy lives in my area and that he has a whole flock of sheeple!

Is Jesus the Prince of Peace?

Notice what Jesus said He was not going to bring, peace! How do we make sense of this? The world has always been divided between those who are followers of the true God of Israel and those who are scoffers or haters of God and His truth. There is no middle ground, for Jesus said, “He who is not with Me is against Me” (Matthew 12:30). Jesus came to challenge each of us to make a choice as it relates to His claims as being the Savior of the World. I am a personal witness of seeing houses divided over the truth claims of Jesus. Sometimes, it’s a teenager standing with Jesus against the atheism of a parent, other times it’s a wife standing firm in the Truth while her husband is a mocker. Jesus said He came to bring division as it relates to who He is.

Mondo conveniently leaves out the part that he is responsible for that divisiveness and warring within families. He teaches them not to accept the other and get along in harmony, but to fight against that other person with differing beliefs. I have experience with this in my own family. Fundie family members who think they are better than the others and that the rest are somehow bad and worthy of going to their imaginary Hell, whatever they imagine it to be. And it isn’t the atheists or the ones who believe differently doing the banning of communication, it is the fundamentalist Christians who are brainwashed to think those who believe different are bad people.

Mondo shows just how right that Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, and others about religion being evil. The holy text they follow is evil, and a threat to all when in the hands of these crazy fundamentalists who use interpret the Bible to war against fellow humans. It may not be a physical war, but it is a war they are promoting by brainwashing their sheeple that everyone who does not believe as they do is somehow bad.

Then after telling us that those of us who do not believe as he does will be ground to powder (Matthew 21:42-44), he ends by wishing everyone a “Merry Christmas and Happy New Year”. Well, it is said that truly crazy people don’t know they are crazy!

I pity these folks for the lives they lead, thinking they are somehow special and the rest of us are deserving of an eternity in torture. It’s all so unnecessary, all so pointless and counter-productive to all things civilized. Certain sects of Christianity, like Mondo’s are downright dangerous to humanity and goodness.

At least he’s honest about it. Christians seem to have retconned Jesus into some pacifist hippie almost.

    Happy 2009 to all:

Thought you might enjoy seeing a truly useful god, for a change:

The one thing about the Xian prophet he was not a nice guy, like the Muslim freak who they worship he suffered from that most hideous mind disorder, Megalomania, this Ego shit that Tards get into is truly sickening, temporal lobe dysfunction, there is now a clinically recognised disorder characterised by hyper religiosity, people who get into these religions we believe now suffer this disorder, the research is incomplete but it is overwhelmingly pointing to that as being a major cause, Pastor Idiot clearly has mental problems {don’t they all }, religion is evil of that there is no doubt.

  5. Old Viking:

I’ve always felt that “He who is not with me is against me”is one of the most fatuous comments ever attributed to anyone.

Uh, wrong Pastor Mondo. For most of human history, the better part of the human race never heard of the Israelites or their god.

Excellent point, Tommy. If you haven’t done so, I might just post that in the comment thread of Mondo’s newspaper article.

  8. AtheistUnderMask:

Tommy, since when have facts ever gotten in the way of xian righteousness?

  9. Stardust:

Christians are blinded by the own self-righteousness. And there is another troll in the archives. Every one that comes here asks the same exact redundant questions.

  10. jimmer:

The simple fact is that the new testament was nearly and completely Made Up. Fabricated to be more precise. I can just imagine a bunch of these religious freaks sitting aound making up the stories. That would explain why Jesus said “Turn the cheek”… and “I came to divide”… Made up stories from any number of sources. And very little continuity and lots of contradictions and other outright untrue historic points.

It must be hard for the preachers to teach their flock that the bible is correct with the exception that we no longer stone people. We no longer burn, hang, or stone witches, well because there is no such thing. We no longer kill our children when they are disobedient. In fact it must be nearly impossible to instill the real fear into GODS chosen when you can’t at the same time support the needed corporal punishment.

The attitude of,” If you’re not with me, you’re agin me”, is really a criminal idea. It goes to the heart of mindless compliance and acquiesence. It goes to control and manipulation. How else could 90% of the preachers even come close to supporting themsleves? They don’t know how to do anything else. Do they?

  11. ChuckA:

On that note…and RE the linked vwatson “troll in the archives”…
“God is love, but He is also just. Those two qualities were perfectly expressed in Christ, God fully showing His love for us, but also His justice in Christ’s sacrifice for our sins.”

    LOVE?…JUST?…SACRIFICE?
WHAT BULLSHIT! For any so-called “Infinite”, “All Knowing” god to invent or create from scratch a World based on mandatory ignorance of the supposed “highest” form of the “created” resident life is manifestly an obvious Tyranny, right from the get-go. The whole ridiculous story of Genesis (versions I & II) and the notion of “Original sin”, of course, has been disproved by Science regarding the age of the earth, etc. Imagine that same fuckhead god experiencing absolute, total ignorance for even a moment! A Buddha-like lesson in divine “Compassion”, perhaps?
[God...suddenly in the state of ignorance]:
    “Who am I?…WHERE am I…How the fuck did I get here? (Oooh, fuck…there’s a word!)…WHY?…WHY?…WHY?…Oh, WAIT!…
    It’s all MY fault!…Jeebus fucking Cripes…hmmmm…SUICIDE, that’s it!…but, how do I do that?…and is it REALLY painless?…(starts humming M.A.S.H. theme]
    [Yada, Yada...or...Xenu, Xenu?)
Yeah...And What an ultimately dumb story it is, too; and is it any more sane, for that matter, than the story of fuckhead Xenu(?) ala Scientology? And the totally outrageous notion of blaming billions upon billions of totally ignorant descendants for the obviously pre-planned mistake of two "pig ignorant" morons talking to a deceptive demon/snake [Reptilian?] plant is the most humongously insane bunch of fictional crap to build an account of history on. In other words…everyone’s born pre-fucked because of a totally selfish, non caring bastard of a deity; who, having no physical body, never even had to wipe an ass, etcetera, etcetera. And all the poor dreamed up animals…don’t even get me started on THAT insanity!
Where is it in any way “just” to blame people…ANYONE…for someone Else’s obviously known, thus, predestined “Original sin”…and especially to create an “Eternal Hell” punishment for simply not believing the obviously pathological, psychopathic insanity. It’s SO far out of ANY even normal sense of “Just” proportion! Even the worst human imaginable couldn’t be as cruel as a god who would dream that shit up. Of course that doctrine is particularly associated with the constantly emphasized writings of the so-called, bogus (and probably insane) “Saint” Paul. What a fuckhead extremist preacher asshole he must have been…IF…indeed, he ever REALLY existed.
Hey…He (epileptic?) supposedly fell off his horse, right?…probably on his head?
Like so much of early Xtian writings; it’s now known that forgery was commonplace…even admitted by early Church writers who put all the contradictory bullshit together. Most people are unaware of all the myriad “Gospels” that were extant at the time before the NT was assembled; and even then the favored, doctrinally appropriate ones that were chosen contradict each other regarding the basic story content.
[I personally own a volume containing some of the so-called "Lost Gospels". In one...the child Jeebus is a fucking spoiled, monstrous brat who strikes people dead if they anger him! Seriously!]
Like all religions, the rather vicious doctrines are ultimately designed to control the huge mass of uneducated, illiterate contemporary bozos. A bunch of moronic Clowns living in a flat-earth universe.
And here we are today, with all that crap STILL being swallowed without question from childhood onward. Once indoctrinated, the overwhelming number of sheeple will never escape the tyranny of the unrecognized, outrageously vicious brainwashing.
Is it any wonder that we have the endless wars in the Middle East; that cesspool, “fried-brain” area of the globe which originally spawned the outrageous garbage that’s STILL fucking up the whole world?
It’s the old…”When will they EVER learn? mantra.
A good bet would be…”Probably, NEVER”!
[And, what a waste of time and energy writing this blab is!]

I would also like to point out that, whatever else he may say, and based on the excerpt here, that Pastor Mondo is a very very bad writer. He gets his own column with this sort of fourth grade writing style?

  13. Hoffy:

Without exception those who become Pastors, priests or gang leaders of any of these recalcitrant Tard clubs are suffering from low self esteem, religion is a wonderful medium for sheeple to reinforce their ego as it requires absolutely no proof or foundation, you don’t have to go to University, in fact you can have an IQ of sub 100 and be revered or seen as wise and intelligent, in all my years I have yet to come across a single intellectual sky daddy worshipper, NEVER, if they were not so vicious and appallingly self righteous we could give them a pat and feel sympathy for their predicament but alas they are extremely dangerous and can never ever be trusted, the peace and love rhetoric is a smoke screen, we are having a good laugh as we watch the Jew scum fuck over the Hamarse retards, problem is that it’s spilling into our streets here with the Muslim filth protesting and isn’t it telling that they do the zieg heil salute like the Nazi’s, as I said in another post Hamarse are the spawn of Haj Mani Al Husseini who was the grand mufti of jerusalem, he gave Hitler the nod for the gas chambers and he used to watch Jews being gassed and loved it, what does that say about Hamarse and it adherents……………………………..

  14. Dana:

    Ryan,

Of course he gets his own column! If we denied him a spot in the newspaper, we’d be persecuting him because of his religious beliefs.

Only atheists should be held to a higher standard of writing. Obviously.

P.S. I have a journalism background and most newspapers are only written at a 6th grade reading level so that anyone can understand them. Unfortunately, most journalists turn around stories so quickly the actual comprehension of what’s happening and why is completely lost.

  15. Sarah:

Dana, that’s depressing. A 6th grade level!? I’ve just lost more faith in the news…

I’ve never witnessed a child reading anything other than the comics, and I would imagine that any adult who could only read at that level would never pick up a newspaper, they’d just watch Fox News! Right?

  16. Stardust:

Jimmer, the reason they ignore these passages is that we have laws against them in our society which prevent them from using those passages as they most likely would if there were no laws against those things.

I would also like to point out that, whatever else he may say, and based on the excerpt here, that Pastor Mondo is a very very bad writer. He gets his own column with this sort of fourth grade writing style?

Ryan, actually the “Pastor’s Corner” is for all area pastors and priests to write whatever the hell they want. Little sermonettes to their diverse readership. My husband wrote a letter to The Patriot asking for equal space for a Secular Humanist column. It might be called something like “Freethinker’s Corner” or the “Corner of Reason”, and I am certain that it would be written in a more intelligent manner than Mondo’s blathering. We are still waiting for a reply.

  17. Tommykey:

The example of Pastor Mondo shows that being a rabbi, pastor or clergyman gives one a sense of entitlement wholly unearned. Because someone styles himself a man of God, it means that his pronouncements are treated with more reverence and respect than your working class man or woman.

To follow-up on what I wrote above, imagine how silly it would sound if a Chinese Confucian wrote “The world has always been divided between those who uphold the teachings of Confucius and those who oppose it and mock it.” Such a statement would reek of ethnocentric bias.

  18. Stardust:

Because someone styles himself a man of God, it means that his pronouncements are treated with more reverence and respect than your working class man or woman.

This is the exact point I have brought up to friends and family who go to church. I tell them they put this man or woman up on a pedestal and believe everything this person says. I remember people sitting in church and nodding in agreement, no one shaking their heads in disagreement, no one questioning even when the things the pastor says is downright ridiculous. One sermon stands out for me when the pastor of one of the churches I attended gave his “Oreo cookie” sermon. “Life is like an Oreo cookie, you have to unscrew the outer cookie parts to get to the creamy goodness inside” People were actually nodding and laughing in joyful agreement. And then this one pastor of the church were our kids went to Lutheran school for a brief time gave a terrible talk to a bunch of six year olds about this shepherd who broke one of his lamb’s legs to keep him from wandering away from the flock and is why God makes bad things happen sometimes. And again, people nodded and smiled in agreement to this horrific speech!

  19. Stardust:

    So far, in his past articles, Pastor Mondo is telling readers;

Religion divides and that is a good thing
    Atheism is a religion
There’s no such thing as separation of church and state
    People should only vote Republican
And God needs money to operate

Then in one of his early articles titled “Only Perfect People Go To Heaven he writes:

We live in a world where there are lots of various religions and belief systems. Even though there are similarities among all of these, there certainly are differences. I am asked quite often if it is possible to sort through all these differences, without getting confused, and focus in on the clear distinctions. Is it possible? I think it is, but it takes a humble heart and a desire to accept what the Bible teaches no matter what we might think.

There you go. The typical fundie rules for properly brainwashing oneself…DO NOT QUESTION this absurd book. Just believe what your pastor on a pedestal tells you what it means.

    He goes on to say:

So how can we gain perfection? It is Jesus’ perfection as our substitute that we need. When we put our trust in what God has done for us through Jesus on the cross,

One is not supposed to ask why if this god desires perfection he made human beings with so many flaws that he doesn’t like…like thinking for oneself and disagreeing with him for example. Why would a god who desires perfection think of such an imperfect solution to the problem of what to do with his imperfect creations? If the sheeple start to think for themselves as we have done, then they would see the absurdity of their beliefs and that their Bible is just a mythology book about a moody god like all the other gods invented by human imagination throughout the ages.

  20. Ryan:

We are still waiting for a reply.

    I would imagine so.

  21. fritzy:

Well, I have to give Mondo points for being honest, and in this case, being correct. This is a scripture from the bible that leaves little to interpretation. And indeed, dualistic religion divides. It’s divisive sometimes to the point of dividing the non-believer’s body parts amongst the blood-thirsty believers in the crowd.

The question is, how can anyone honestly understand and accept this and still believe that the bible, xtianity and dualistic religions in general, are blueprints for a good life and a healthy planet?

  22. Hoffy:

The points are on this freaks horns……………………………
