He isn't really the typical media atheist. Most of the time if someone is an atheist in a movie it's because they lost their faith due to bad things happening, and then they end up regaining their faith at some point. House is portrayed as an atheist who bases his opinion based on the lack of evidence for god, and similar more rational arguments.
