After reading Bob’s post today I found some other ignorant positions by our own politicians and religous organizations. I think Brazilian might not be wrong stating that Brazil does NOT have the most “Complete Fucking Idiots”. Although that is a debate for some other time. The Pill Kills is an anti-contraception marketing slogan being used by ??? Ready??? I’ll bet you guessed The Catholic Church. And You would be correct.
In Washington Today. We find the Repubs have presented an amendment to the budget. This is being called Deminted because it is sponsored by Jim DeMint Sen. S. Carolina
Anti-contraception Senator Jim DeMint insisted this week that birth control prices be 900% higher for college women than they were previously. You’d think the Senator, who professes to be against abortion, would want to make contraception as accessible as possible for women in college since they’re the demographic with the highest rate of unintended pregnancy and the highest rate of abortion.
When Prevention First legislation was introduced in the Senate it consisted of proposals that would improve access to contraception. And yet it was referred to by contraception opponents as an “abortion bailout.” When the stimulus package included a simple budget-neutral provision to streamline state billing procedures for contraceptive services, the Family Research Council called it a “political payoff”. Now, DeMint through an amendment hopes to remove the Affordable Birth Control Act, which requires no expenditure but simply reinstates college health centers and other safety net clinics back into the discounted drug pricing program. The polemic decoration DeMint uses is that lowering the cost of birth control for college age women is an “earmark” for Planned Parenthood.

Something mentioned previously in the comments was about the likelyhood that Obama will continue the Abstinence Only Funding. Well we might be able to change that.They also have a link as a call to action to be part of the ACLU’s drive to .End Federal Funding for Abstinence Only Programs
So take a little time and get acquainted with Birth Control Watch. It will do you good. Warning don’t watch too many of the Extreme Vids. The stupid hurts.

The right-wing Population Research Institute has analyzed the current economic crisis and finds that abortion and birth control are what is “Killing the Economy,” the title of the Oct. 28 Weekly Briefing from PRI president Stephen W. Mosher.
I had to rub my sleepy morning eyes and read that one again!

At least, now, with the Obama Administration, there’s hope of resuscitating (restoring?), and protecting the Constitution from the longtime annihilating attack by the Dominionists.
Tangentially, I’ve been checking out some YouTubes of an old fav…Gore Vidal; which reminded me of just how dangerous things had become from the insidious Bushie madness. Starting, particularly with the Reagan Administration, the Supreme Court was increasingly becoming the “Supreme Joke”. At least now, there’s SOME hope for our Secular Republic…?

I agree. I don’t like signing much of anything either but I too realize that we need to add our voice to the dialog. I was absolutely stunned by the things going on under the religion of politics banner. “The Pill Kills” and “Contraception and Abortion caused the economic crisis”. Holy fuck!! Not only is it wrong and an out and out lie but none of that nonsense is even remotely believable. Except to the Wingnuts and Fucktards of the religious right.
I hope you’re correct in your idea that the constitution will be restored under Obama. I too have that hope but as with all politicians I’m skeptical until it happens.

You know, my ex wife used to take birth control pills and the only thing the pill did to her was cause headaches and some cramping. Not quite death, although be married to her felt like death would be preferable.
